Family fight leads to charges
JEFFERSON TWP — A man is accused of firing a semi-automatic rifle Sunday night outside his home on Nursery Lane after a family argument.
State police said they arrested Zachary D. Bujak, 31, after several calls from neighbors reporting shots being fired shortly before 8 p.m. No one was injured and no property was reported struck by gunfire.
Troopers got there and found the defendant and his mother standing in the doorway of their house. He admitted shooting the rifle, identified as an AR-15, police said.
His mother told police he fired “multiple rounds” from the doorway, according to court documents. Bujak's stepfather, who also was there, provided a similar account of what happened.
The shots, documents noted, were fired “toward other homes.” Police said they believed Bujak was intoxicated.
He showed police where he had placed the rifle after shooting it. Police found the gun in the house inside a case.
Bujak was arraigned on misdemeanor charges of reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct and a summary charge of harassment. He is free on $25,0000 bail.
A preliminary hearing is set Jan. 24 at the office of District Judge Sue Haggerty in Saxonburg.
