Nic Leone of Butler was selected as a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. Membership is offered by invitation only to first- and second-year college students who have GPAs of at least 3.4 and are in the top 20 percent of their class.

He is a 2017 Butler High graduate. He is a sophomore at the University of Pittsburgh majoring in finance.

Vanessa Wissinger of Renfrew was among 26 students who were inducted into the Saint Francis University chapter of the National Society of Leadership and Success at its second induction ceremony of the 2018-2019 academic year on April 13 at the DiSepio Institute for Rural Health and Wellness.

She also was welcomed April 7 into one of Saint Francis University’s Greek Life Honor Societies nationally recognized as Gamma Sigma Alpha.

Emily Schnarre of Cranberry Township was inducted into the Omicron Delta Kappa Honor Society during the Tapping on the Mound ceremony April 5 at The University of Alabama.

Nathan Owen of Cranberry Township presented at the ASCE National GeoWall Competition, a formal presentation, during Mount Union’s SCHOLAR Day, a campuswide event filled with presentations showcasing academic excellence and scholarly research conducted by Mount Union students.

Brooke Schaefers of Butler and Mitchell Topf of Cranberry Township were inducted into the Youngstown State University chapter of Phi Kappa Phi at the annual spring initiation ceremony.

Cole Hepler of Sarver was recognized for academic achievement at Lebanon Valley College’s Spring Awards and Recognition Ceremony. Hepler, a graduate of Freeport Area Senior High School, is pursuing a bachelor of science degree in business administration at The Valley and won the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs David V. Rudd Award.

Nicholas Grenci, a 2015 graduate of Butler Area High School, was the student marshal for the nuclear engineering baccalaureate degree program at the Penn State College of Engineering spring commencement ceremony.

Grenci, the son of Brenda and Anthony Grenci of Butler, graduated with a bachelor of science degree in nuclear engineering and a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering.
