Raising the bar: Marriott SpringHill Suites takes shape in Butler in 2016
Century steelworkers put steel up Tuesday, June 14, 2016, for Marriott’s SpringHill Suites at the corner of Jefferson and McKean streets in Butler.
The $8.2 million, 76-room hotel was part of the Centre City project and included a 238-space parking garage being built next to it and the Rite Aid store that had already opened.
“We’ve had some challenges that we’ve overcome, and we’re finally getting moving now, and things should speed up here once we start the framing phases of the project,” said Steve Savage, the project’s superintendent. “You’ll see a lot of activity on-site, a lot of progress.”
The hotel was being built by the city and J.S. Capitol, and Floyd Beaudette, the construction director, said at the time that the hotel was on budget.
