City man jailed after skirmish
A Butler man is accused of breaking into a city apartment on the 600 block of New Castle Street and assaulting the tenant.
Jahote C. Dorsey Jr., 23, is being held in Butler County Prison on felony and other charges in the incident Monday morning.
Butler Police said the victim, 32-year-old Joshua Norris, told them he was home with a social worker about 10:20 a.m. when Dorsey got inside through a locked door.
The two men, who previously knew each other, got into an altercation on the staircase, according to court documents, where the defendant grabbed Norris by the shirt and pulled him down the stairs.
Norris recounted that he tried to push Dorsey out the door, but the man placed him in a headlock and threatened his life.
Dorsey is accused of pushing Norris into a hallway door and wall, damaging the property, before he fled. Police said the social worker witnessed the incident.
Officers found Norris bleeding from the nose, documents said, and he had a red scratch mark on his left shoulder. He also complained of neck pain.
District Judge William Fullerton arraigned Dorsey on a felony charge of trespass, misdemeanor charges of terroristic threats and simple assault, and a summary charge of criminal mischief. He was placed in Butler County Prison on $15,000 bail following arraignment.
His preliminary hearing is set for Jan. 29.
