Man allegedly points gun during confrontation

A Chicora man is facing firearms and threats charges after he allegedly pointed a gun at another man during a confrontation Thursday.

Thomas Paul Crawford, 61, has been charged with a felony count of firearms not to be carried without a license and misdemeanor charges of simple assault, terroristic threats and recklessly endangering another person in connection with the incident.

Crawford arrived at a home on Seven Hills Road in Concord Township just before 5 p.m. and immediately began a confrontation with the victim, state police said in an affidavit that was filed with a complaint Friday at District Judge Lewis Stoughton’s office in Chicora.

The victim and a witness told police that during the confrontation, Crawford pulled a large black firearm from his waistband, pointed it at the victim and said he would shoot him, according to the affidavit.

During an interview with police Thursday evening, Crawford corroborated the victim’s account of the incident, but denied having a firearm. He said regularly carries a firearm, according to the affidavit.

Police noted that Crawford hasn’t had a concealed carry gun permit since October of last year.

During a consented search of his vehicle, police said they found two empty handgun holsters. He was transported to his home and gave verbal permission for police to retrieve the firearm in question, according to the affidavit.

Crawford was arraigned Thursday by District Judge Kevin O’Donnell, who committed Crawford to the county prison Thursday in lieu of $7,500 bail. Crawford had posted that bond as of Friday which came with a condition ordering him not to contact the victim.
