9:47 p.m. Tuesday — Kathryn L. Lane, 18, of Butler is accused of attacking 18-year-old Kelsey Holmes of Butler during an altercation on West Cunningham.Holmes was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital and treated for injuries, including a deep cut and bruising above the right eye, suffered in the incident.Holmes said Lane approached her as she walked near the Cigarette Shop, and the two argued. The defendant then allegedly punched Holmes in the head and face.Lane later admitted she hit Holmes, according to a police report, but only after Holmes pushed her and called her a racial name. Lane is charged with simple assault.

2:16 p.m. Tuesday — A concrete mixer truck driven by T.J. Richardson, 34, of Saxonburg and a sport utility vehicle driven by Cynthia Morton, 35, of Butler collided at Evans City and Meridian roads.1:20 p.m. Tuesday — Brian Lineman, 37, was cited for a burning ordinance violation after starting a brush fire at his Deer Run Drive home. Police said Lineman was burning yard waste when high winds swept the fire to pine trees and brush. Meridian volunteer firefighters were called to extinguish the fire.12:08 p.m. Tuesday — No one was hurt when a car driven by Steven Brown, 17, of Butler struck the rear of a school bus that was stopped at New Castle and Duffy roads. The bus at the time, police said, was taking Moniteau School District students from Butler County Vocational-Technical School to Moniteau.11:13 a.m. Tuesday — An SUV driven by Shelby Kell, 25, of Butler rear-ended a minivan on the Route 422 off-ramp at Route 8 South. A 4-year-old child in the van, driven by Chuck Carpenter, 35, of Butler, was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with a minor injury.

Monday — Police filed criminal charges against a Summit Township couple for allegedly keeping an unsafe and unsanitary apartment for their four children, ages 7 months to 4 years old.Police on March 31 were called to the Linwood Drive home of Dallas Blatt, 27, and Jessica Gizienski, 24, after a neighbor found the suspect's 3-year-old child running around in the yard unattended, according to court documents.No one answered a knock on the door, police said. Inside, officers found the youngest child in a portable crib. They also smelled a "strong odor" of cat urine and feces and found an "overflowing" cat littler box, a police affidavit said.A mattress on the floor in a room where the older children slept, police said, had a large hole in it. On the room's carpet, police said they found animal feces.Police said Blatt was at home. He told officers he had worked a midnight shift and must have fallen asleep. Gizienski was at work. The Butler County Children and Youth Services were later contacted and helped in the investigation. The suspects are charged with four counts of child endangerment.
