Monday — Two cement duck lawn ornaments were stolen overnight from the front yard of a home in the 200 block of Short Street. One ornament stands 2 feet, the other is 1 foot tall. The property is valued at $200.11:15 p.m. Saturday — Two unlocked vehicles were broken into outside a bar in the 400 block of South Washington Street. A Blackberry cell phone was stolen from one vehicle. The other vehicle was ransacked but nothing taken.1:37 p.m. Friday — A visor holding 35 compact discs and a pair of Oakley sunglasses worth a combined $400 were among the items reported taken from two vehicles on Clinton Avenue.
2:24 a.m. July 15 — David A. Figucia, 43, of Gibsonia was arrested for driving under the influence on Route 228.Officers pulled over Figucia after another motorist called 911 to report seeing the suspect's sport utility vehicle weaving on the roadA blood test later showed Figucia's blood-alcohol level was 0.202 percent, according to court documents, or more than double the 0.08 percent level considered intoxicated under state law.In addition to DUI, Figucia is charged with careless driving and a lane violation.12:44 a.m. July 10 — Erin A. Dunlap, 27, of Mars was arrested for DUI on Adams Ridge Boulevard. Police also cited Dunlap for reckless driving.
8:30 p.m. Sunday — James Haggerty Jr., 37, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Pittsburgh Road near the Picklegate Crossing.7:13 p.m. Friday — Ned Sandusky, 39, of Portersville is accused of creating a ruckus at the Advance Auto Parts on Route 8 North when he learned the store did not have the part he needed, a police report said.Officers were told Sandusky began "to scream obscenities and threatened bodily injury to employees" when told the part he needed was not in, the report said. Police said he is charged with disorderly conduct and harassment.
1:10 a.m. July 18 — Paul E. Zotter, 57, of Pittsburgh was arrested for driving under the influence after he was clocked going nearly double the speed limit on East Main Street. Zotter is charged with DUI and speeding.
Wednesday — A .380 caliber pistol was stolen overnight in a burglary at a home in the 200 block of West Poplar Street. The gun is worth about $270.9:39 p.m. July 20 — Pamela O'Brien reported that Drew Whitley, 55, of Braddock, Allegheny County, had threatened to kill her while they were both at her home.When Whitley refused to leave, O'Brien left her residence to meet with police.Police said Whitley faces charges of terroristic threats, simple assault and defiant trespass.
7:32 p.m. Friday — John Sucola, 45, of Harmony was arrested after he allegedly threatened his mother-in-law during a domestic dispute at her home on Main Street in Harmony.The suspect was gone by the time police got to Linda McCormick's house. Officers, however, found Sucola a short time later on Liberty Street in Harmony.He was arrested and searched, which turned up suspected marijuana and a metal smoking pipe in a pair of pockets, according to court documents.Sucola was arraigned on charges of terroristic threat, harassment and possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia; he was placed in Butler County Prison on $2,500 bail following arraignment.
July 20 — Shawn Matthew Smith, 31, of Zelienople was charged with a pair of felony drug counts for allegedly selling heroin to a police informant during a controlled drug buy in Zelienople on Aug. 19, 2009.Smith is charged with delivery of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and criminal use of a communication facility — all felonies. He also is charged with misdemeanor drug possession.
6:45 a.m. Monday — A car driven by Robert L. Doiley, 23, of McKeesport, Allegheny County, struck a guardrail on Interstate 79 in Cranberry Township. Police said Doiley was cited for driving at an unsafe speed and driving with an expired registration.3:30 a.m. Monday — Two unknown burglars awakened an Oakland Township couple at their Woodcrest Road home. The suspects fled, and nothing was taken.3:30 p.m. Sunday — Mary C. Shaffer, 47, of Prospect reported an unknown male driver struck the rear of her car as she traveled south on Route 19 in Muddy Creek Township. The driver did not stop.2:25 p.m. Sunday — Charles Young, 68, of Butler suffered a minor injury in a one-vehicle crash. Police said Young fell asleep while driving north on Highland Drive, and his vehicle drifted off the road, struck a mailbox, culvert and tree. He was cited for careless driving.2:30 a.m. Sunday — Darlene White, no age given, of Slippery Rock was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after crashing into a guardrail on Route 68 in Butler Township.Sunday — A yellow 2004 Suzuki LTZ250 all-terrain vehicle was stolen from a detached garage at a home in the 400 block of Euclid Road in Clay Township. The theft happened between July 9 and Sunday.Saturday — Three people were arrested for DUI during a sobriety checkpoint on Route 8 in Center Township. Also, 21 citations and 73 warnings were given to the 114 cars stopped during the police detail.11:48 p.m. Saturday — James F. Nierderriter, 48, of Harrisville was arrested for suspicion of DUI at Routes 8 and 108 in Slippery Rock Township.5:15 p.m. Saturday — Justin Wayne Cooksey, 27, of Lyndora was arrested for suspicion of DUI on Herman Road near Vogleyvile Road in Summit Township. Police said Cooksey also was cited for driving with a suspended license and an open container violation.Thursday — Edward Martin Murphy, 51, of Mars reported his camp in Donegal Township was ransacked between July 11 and Thursday.1 a.m. July 19 — Grove City Materials reported a small amount of money was taken from a building on Harmony Road in Mercer Township.7 p.m. July 17 — Charles Williams, 59, of Clay Township reported his prescription pain medication was taken from a Beaver Dam Road home in Clay Township.July 13 — Police filed drunken driving and other charges against 76-year-old Sterling N. Farmer Jr. of Pittsburgh stemming from a 9:40 p.m. July 4 traffic stop on Interstate 79 in Lancaster Township. In addition to DUI, Farmer was cited for careless driving and not wearing a seat belt.
8:15 p.m. Sunday — A teenager riding on an all-terrain vehicle was hurt when another teen driving the ATV did not stop at an intersection and collided with a sport utility vehicle in Rayburn Township.Jacob P. Heddinger, 17, of Kittanning, a passenger, was thrown off the ATV when it crashed and rolled at Sloan Hill and Painter roads. He was wearing a helmet and suffered moderate injuries.Robert A. Livengood, 16, of Templeton, who was driving the ATV, was not hurt. He, too was wearing a helmet. Police said he was cited for a stop sign violation and driving an ATV on a street.Daniel A. Burkett, 41, of Indiana, Pa., was driving the SUV.
State Police, New CastleJuly 6 — A green Honda FourTrax utility all-terrain vehicle, a generator, aluminum extension ladder and two air conditions were stolen in a burglary July 5 or 6 at a Shaffer Road home in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County.
