Kathryn S. Zern Gerhart, 94, of Passavant Retirement Community, Zelienople, died Monday at her home. She was formerly of Boyertown.

Born in Perkiomen Heights, Pa., she was a daughter of Irvin and Hannah Swinehart Zern.

Mrs. Gerhart graduated from Boyertown High School in 1931. She was a homemaker. In addition to her family, her interests included her church, music performance, reading, playing bridge and pinochle and travel. She was a longtime resident of Boyertown, having moved from Walnut Woods to Zelienople in 2007.

Mrs. Gerhart was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Boyertown, where she was active in the Women of the ELCA.

Surviving her are three sons, Daniel Gerhart of Wysox, Pa., David Gerhart of Duluth, Minn., and Donald Gerhart of Butler; four grandsons; and a great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne D. Gerhart, and a brother, Harold Zern.
