Ethel M. "Sis" (Waltman) Boal, 83, of Fenelton died Wednesday morning at her home.

Born March 28, 1927, in Chicora, she was a daughter of the late John and Elnora (Geibel) Waltman.

She was a registered nurse, graduating from the St. John Hospital in Pittsburgh. She moved back to Butler, where she worked as a private duty nurse until her retirement in 1986.

Ethel was a member of St. John Roman Catholic Church in Coylesville, the Marian Guild at St. John's and also the former Legion of Mary, also at St. John's for many years.

She was active in the Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, was the medical director for the Special Olympics for several years, had worked for the Red Cross for more than 20 years and had enjoyed playing cards.

Surviving are her four children, Ellen (Bob) Brothers of Butler, Edward (Kathy) Boal of Fenelton, Curtis (Donna) Boal of Fenelton and Gregory (Lil) Boal of McGrann, Armstrong County; four grandchildren, Mark, Christina, Benjamin and Amy Boal; and a brother, Clyde Waltman of Chicora.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles P. Boal, who she married May 3, 1952, and who died May 25, 1993; and two sisters, Evelyn Black and Mildred Graham.

<B>Boal </B>— Friends of Ethel M. "Sis" (Waltman) Boal, who died Wednesday, May 19, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. John Roman Catholic Church in Coylesville. Everyone, please meet at the church. The Rev. Albert Koser, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in the St. John Parish Cemetery.Information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
