A Tarentum man charged with drug distribution was sentenced to probation in Butler County Court Thursday.

Jacob. B. Timko, 27, was sentenced to two years probation by Judge William Shaffer. He was also ordered to pay court costs and $90 in restitution.

Timko pleaded guilty Dec. 1, 2016, to four counts of misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

He then completed the Drug Treatment Court program, which resulted in the sentence.

Timko thanked those dealing with his case for “the opportunity to get my life back on track.”

He was initially charged with two felony counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, criminal use of a communications facility, misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance after two instances on June 18 and Aug. 13, 2015.

The Butler County Drug Task Force filed the charges after Timko sold heroin — for $50 in one deal and $40 in the other — to a police informant at the Buffalo Plaza on Route 356.
