Thursday — Justin R. Garvey, 31, of Kittanning was arrested on charges that he failed to return a back hoe that he rented in May.Garvey had leased the property from Grand Rental Station on New Castle Road for the day May 22. But he did not return the mini excavator, worth more than $20,000, even after the owner sent him a certified letter June 17, according to court documents.The business was out $2,171.46 in lost rental fees because of the suspect's inaction, police said.Garvey was arraigned Thursday on felony charges of theft of leased property and receiving stolen property. Additionally, he is charged with criminal mischief. He is free on his own recognizance.

4:05 p.m. Sunday — Jason A. Kneidinger, 25, of Grove City was hurt when he apparently fell asleep at the wheel of his pickup truck and hit a utility pole along Route 173 near Hobart Boulevard in Brady Township. The pickup rolled onto its roof and slid about 120 feet.Police said Kneidinger, who was not wearing a seat belt and suffered minor injuries, was cited for careless driving.2:15 p.m. Saturday — Christopher C. Lorenz, 40, of East Butler is accused of allegedly assaulting his wife, 38-year-old Michelle Lorenz, during a domestic dispute on Route 422 in Clearfield Township. Police said Lorenz faces a charge of simple assault.12:20 p.m. Saturday — Trent T. Wolfgram, 19, of Slippery Rock suffered minor injuries when the car he was driving struck a tree along North Road near Unionville Road in Franklin Township. Police said Wolfgram was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.Friday — Jewelry and money worth $2,400 was stolen in a burglary at a home on Geibel Road in Summit Township. The burglar got into the home through an unlocked basement door between 1 and 5 p.m.Friday — An unknown burglar made off with snacks and gasoline cans from a shed at the Oakridge Dog Club on Porter Road in Marion Township. The property taken in the break-in between Tuesday and Friday is valued at $100.12:40 p.m. June 25 — Four people were hurt when Jack. E. Corcoran Jr., 22, of Finleyville, Washington County, lost control of his vehicle and hit a guardrail on Interstate 79 in Jackson Township.Corcoran and three passengers, all from Pittsburgh, were taken to UPMC Passavant Cranberry with minor injuries.June 21 — An unknown burglar broke into a home on Davis Road in Oakland Township. A police news release did not indicate if anything was taken in the daylight burglary.

4:15 a.m. Sunday — A pickup truck driven by Levi Maihle, 17, of Parker struck a utility pole along Route 368 near Aughton Road in Perry Township. Maihle fled the scene but returned more than three hours later while troopers were investigating the crash.Police said Maihle faces several traffic violations, including driving at an unsafe speed.

6:11 a.m. Friday — A car driven by Charles Fusko, 62, of Sarver struck the rear of a Mack truck on Route 28 just north of Exit 12A in East Deer Township, Allegheny County. David Ciancaglione Sr., 41, of Creighton, Allegheny County, was driving the truck.Thursday — An unknown burglar between 7 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. stole about $100 in coins from a home on Pony Farm Road in North Buffalo Township. Police said the burglar cut a window screen to get into the home.7:40 a.m. June 16 — Two people were hurt when a pickup truck driven by Clint E. Minnick, 37, of Rimersburg collided with a Peterbilt truck driven by Michael D. Adamson, 40, of Ford City at Route 28 and Laurel Run Road in Boggs Township.Minnick and Adamson were taken to separate hospitals with moderate to minor injuries. Neither driver was wearing a seat belt. Police said Minnick was cited for failing to yield the right of way.
