Josephine Gertrude Lewis Hesidenz, 92, of Butler died Sunday at her home.

Born Nov. 12, 1917, in Cabot, she was the daughter of the late William and Catherine Osche Lewis.

A homemaker, she was a member of Saint Wendelin Roman Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers of the Church.

She enjoyed her family, baking and playing cards.

She is survived by two sons, Carl N. (Skip) Hesidenz of Butler and Ron W. Hesidenz and his wife, Joan, of Butler; a daughter, Joan C. Hesidenz Hartzel of Butler; seven grandchildren, Ron Hartzel and his wife, Brenda, of Butler, Brian Hartzel and his wife, Jenifer, of Hackettstown, N.J., Karen Watterson and her husband, Mike, of West Sunbury, Annette McKinney and her husband, Chris, of Cranberry Township, Diana Foehringer and her husband, Bruce, of Butler, Eric Hesidenz and his wife, Michelle, of East Butler, and Kevin Hesidenz and his wife, Kelly, of East Butler; and 18 great-grandchildren, Anita, Coleen, Matthew, and Elizabeth Hartzel, Joseph Hartzel, Alexis and Allen Watterson, Jerry and Jesse Watterson, Mike, Lauren, Kristen and Scott McKinney, Grace and Gretchen Foehringer, Dylan and Lauren Hesidenz, and Emma Hesidenz.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl C. Hesidenz, who she married Aug. 20, 1935, and who died July 1, 2003. Also preceding him in death were four brothers, Harry, Howard, Nick, and Jack Lewis; and three sisters, Mary Elizabeth Eyth, Loretta Sleigher and Gertrude Stutz.

<B>HESIDENZ</B> — Friends of Josephine Gertrude Lewis Hesidenz, who died Sunday, May 16, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the <B>Martin Funeral Home</B>, 429 Center Ave.,A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Saint Wendelin Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Steven V. Neff, pastor, officiating. Burial will take place in Saint Wendelin Cemetery.Information is available at www.martinfh.net.
