Keener

Joyce E. Keener, 49, of Freeport passed away at 2:21 p.m. Tuesday at her home while in the company of family.

Joyce was born in McKeesport, Dec. 24, 1960, the daughter of the late Richard S. and Donna L. (Gerner) Jackson.

She was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Bible Church of South Buffalo Township.

Joyce was a 1978 graduate of Freeport High School. She was the assistant branch manager at the Northwest Savings Bank in Kittanning for 30 years.

She enjoyed bowling, reading, going out to eat and playing solitaire.

She is survived by her husband of 23 years, John L. Keener; her son, Alex M. Keener; and her sister, Pamela E. Swartz of Freeport. She also is survived by her mother-in-law, Annette J Pirrone of New Kensington; her father-in-law, Donald Keener of North Buffalo Township; grandmother-in-law, Virginia VanDyke of South Buffalo Township; three brothers-in-law, Ted (LuAnn) Keener of Slate Lick, Allen (Janice) Keener of North Buffalo Township and Tim (Michelle) Keener of South Buffalo Township; two sisters-in-law, Nancy Keener of Cabot and Bridget (John) Kowalski of Reading; and nine nieces and nephews.

She was preceded by her son, Aaron R. Keener, who passed away in 2005.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the funeral home with Pastor Mark R. Thomas officiating.
