Oct. 15 — Police charged a Beaver County man with having marijuana and other drug-related items in connection with a traffic stop last month at Route 8 and Vogel Road.

The driver, Tyler Makray, 26, of Beaver, was pulled over about 5 p.m. Sept. 3 for having a badly damaged windshield. While talking with an officer, he admitted to having “some marijuana” and “paraphernalia” in his car, according to court documents.

Police said he turned over a small container with suspected marijuana as well as drug-smoking pipes, a digital scale and an improvised bong.

Makray is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

10:03 p.m. Oct. 22 — A silver medical crutch was found in the state police parking lot in Butler Township. Anyone with information about the crutch is asked to call police at 724-284-8100

9:02 a.m. Monday — Tammy L. Garland, 49, of Butler was hurt when the car she was driving rear-ended a sport utility vehicle stopped for traffic on Route 68 just north of Buttercup School Road in Connoquenessing Township.

Garland was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with an apparent minor injury, police said. She and the other driver, Sondra M. Davenport, 36, of Butler, were both wearing seat belts. Police cited Garland for following too closely to another vehicle.

Friday — A burglar forced his way into Burd Bros. Landscaping & Lawn Care on Herman Road in Summit Township. The break-in occurred between 9 p.m. Thursday and 9:30 a.m. Friday.

According to a police report, unknown items were taken and there are no suspects. Anyone with information is asked to call police.

6:51 p.m. Oct. 17 — No one was injured in a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 79 northbound in Muddy Creek Township involving a pickup truck, a state police cruiser and a commercial bus.

Police said Paul Sciulli, 46, of McKees Rocks, Allegheny County, was driving the pickup and Robert M. O’Neal, 53, of Larimer, Allegheny County, was driving the bus. Both the vehicles were in the right lane.

Trooper Joseph Pokorny, 30, of Moon Township, Allegheny County, also was northbound on the shoulder of the highway with the cruiser’s emergency lights on, according to a police report.

Police said Sciulli’s pickup swerved on the shoulder and struck the cruiser’s driver side door area. He swerved back into the right lane and struck the rear of the bus, which was carrying 30 passengers.

Sciulli was cited for disregarding traffic lanes.

2:35 p.m. Oct. 17 — Jessica E. Flower, 19, of Evans City was hurt when she lost control of her car and crashed on Leisie Road just south of Bolten Lane in Forward Township.

The teen, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with an apparent minor injury, police said. Police cited her for driving at an unsafe speed.

7:57 a.m. Oct. 16 — A sport utility vehicle driven by Amanda C. Negley, 31, of Chicora and a pickup truck driven by David P. Crowe, 32, of Tomkinsville, Ky., collided at Route 38 and Hooker Road in Concord Township.

No one was injured but both vehicles had to be towed. Police cited Negley for a stop sign violation.

1:18 a.m. Oct. 16 — Cynthia J. Winters, 39, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Renfrew Road in Penn Township.

Oct. 15 — An unknown burglar broke into a home in the 200 block of North River Avenue in Parker, Armstrong County. The victim reported that unspecified items were taken in the burglary that happened between 7 and 8:50 p.m.

Oct. 14 — Someone fired a rifle shot that struck and damaged a garage at a home on Slippery Rock Road in West Liberty. The incident happened between 5 p.m. Oct. 13 and 11:30 a.m. Oct. 14. Police have no suspects.

3 a.m. Sunday — Brandon P. Reynolds, 22, of Grove City lost control of his car and struck a ditch and tree before hitting a utility pole along Scrubgrass Road, just east of Stoneboro Road, in Wolf Creek Township.

Reynolds, who was wearing a seat belt, was not injured but his car had to be towed. He told police the crash happened when he fell asleep while driving home from a friend’s house.

He said he subsequently called his mother, according to a police report, who drove to the scene and gave him a ride home.

Police cited Reynolds for hit-and-run, failing to give information or render aid after an accident, abandoning a vehicle on the road, careless driving and disregarding traffic lanes.
