Jay D. Swigart
Jay D. Swigart, 80, of Butler passed away at 12:25 a.m. Easter Sunday at his home with his family by his side.
He was born March 11, 1930, in Kittanning, the son of the late Lloyd L. Swigart and the late Anna (Douglass) Swigart.
He retired on June 27, 1986, from the Pennsylvania Game Commission, where he was a conservation officer.
He was a member of the Christ Community Methodist Church. He also was a member of the Masonic Victory Lodge 694, the Syria Temple, the New Castle Consistory and the Legion of Honor in Consistory, past president of the Butler City Hunting and Fishing Club, a life member of the Elks Club 203 in Kittanning and a life member of the VFW Post 249 in Butler.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served in Korea.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and traveling.
Surviving are his wife, Lucille L. (McKissick) Swigart, who he married May 17, 1952; twin sons, Jay and his wife, Cindy Swigart II of Butler and Ray and his wife, Debbie Swigart of Butler; three grandsons, Douglass W. Swigart, Michael R. Swigart and Jay D. Swigart III; his sister, Georgia Lewis of Kittanning; and a brother-in-law, Ray and his wife, Sandy H. McKissick.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Marie George.
<B>SWIGART</B> — Friends of Jay D. Swigart, who died Sunday, April 4, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>Young Funeral Home</B>, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler. Visitation also will be from 10 a.m. until time of the service at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Christ Community United Methodist Church, 206 N. Duffy Road, with the Rev. Howard Burrell officiating. Interment will follow in the Butler County Memorial Park, Butler.Masonic services by his Victory Lodge 694 will be held at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday.
