3:21 p.m. Monday — Four people were hurt when a dump truck driven by Michael Six, 24, of Petrolia rear ended a car at Route 68 and Benbrook Road.The driver of the car, Thomas Davis Sr., 60, of West Sunbury was stopped for a red light behind a car driven by Davis Saylor, 54, of Evans City. The crash pushed Davis' vehicle into the back of Saylor's car.Davis and Saylor suffered neck pain, but both refused medical treatment. Paula Davis, 54, of Evans City and Patty Fennell, 70, passengers in Davis' car, were taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with unknown head and rib injuries.Six was cited for careless driving.11 a.m. Monday — A 15-year-old student at Butler Intermediate High School was caught with a military-style knife at the school. Officials at the school found the knife in the youth's book bag.The student is charged in juvenile court with possessing a weapon on school property and possessing a prohibited offensive weapons.Monday — Two men face charges in connection with a license plate stolen in mid-September from a car in the Lyn-Mar parking lot. Police suspect Jeff Rivers, 21, of Lyndora stole the plate, which turned up at a home on Mercer Road.Rivers allegedly gave the plate to Nicholas Defelice, 19, of Butler, to use on numerous vehicles over the past several weeks. Defelice is charged with receiving stolen property.

5:35 p.m. Monday — Ernest E. Tarr, 51, of Karns City swerved his pickup truck to avoid a sport utility vehicle stopped on Hooker Road at the Concord Presbyterian Church in Concord Township, and struck a utility pole. The pickup slid off an embankment and hit the SUV driven by Tara L. Magill, 26, of Butler.12:55 p.m. Sunday — A car driven by Sara Kowalok, 25, of Butler struck a guardrail on Interstate 79 in Jackson Township.

Saturday — More than $6,300 in copper fittings were stolen from the Interstate Pipe & Supply Co. in Clinton Township. A thief bought the property using the account of a New Castle business without that company's permission.Police did not immediately say if they had a suspect in the theft that happened between Sept. 29 and Saturday.
