1:08 a.m. Sunday — A Butler man already charged with stalking his ex-girlfriend faces similar charges after he was found allegedly hiding in bushes outside her Goldwood Avenue home.The suspect, 32-year-old Carey M. Johns, ran away after another man confronted him.Johns is charged with stalking and violating a protection from abuse order held by his former girlfriend, 27-year-old Joanna Porter.On July 12, police charged him with stalking Porter, following several incidents at her home in June and July.Later, documents said, Porter notified Butler Township police July 1 that the suspect was making harassing telephone calls to her workplace.Friday — Police charged Tyler J. Karch, 22, no known address, with theft for allegedly stealing DVDs valued at $55 from a friend's apartment on Greenview Drive.Karch is accused of swiping the DVDs and selling them at a Butler Township store.

12:58 a.m. Monday — Brittany Crevar, 23, of Butler was hurt when the car she was driving collided with a tractor-trailer on Route 8 at the Picklegate Crossing.Crevar was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. Jeffrey Pataska, no age given, of LaCrosse, Wisc., was driving the rig.2:25 a.m. Saturday — Ryan H. Wissinger, 30, of Saxonburg was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Hansen Avenue. He also was cited for running a stop sign and careless driving12:28 p.m. Thursday — Jose A. Gonzalez, 63, of Butler is accused in a hit-and-run crash on Whitestown Road. By the time officers got to the crash, the suspect was gone.However, the other driver gave police the license plate number and description of Gonzalez's vehicle.Gonzalez is charged with hit-and-run and failure to stop and render aid after an accident.10:01 p.m. Wednesday — Michael Christofano, 52, of Butler faces several charges in connection with a hit-and-run crash at Freeport and Saxonburg roads.Christofano drove away after his vehicle collided with another vehicle at the intersection. But a short time later he crashed again, this time at Bullcreek Road and Green Manor Drive.When officers got to the second crash, they found the suspect's vehicle but Christofano was gone.Two days later, police identified Christofano as the driver.He is charged with two counts of hit-and-run, driving with a suspended license, failure to stop and render aid after an accident, and careless driving.July 1 — William J. Heckert II, 20, of Butler is accused of stealing an elderly woman's credit cards and using them to make unauthorized purchases. Heckert is charged with 16 counts of access device fraud and two counts each of theft and receiving stolen property.

3:23 p.m. Monday — Kathleen C. Malcomb, 22, of Karns City was hurt when the car she was driving rear-ended a pickup truck on Route 38 just north of Mahood Road in Oakland Township.Malcomb, who was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with minor injuries to the head, neck, knee and wrist, was not wearing a seat belt. She was cited for driving at an unsafe speed. Dustin L. Neff, 25, of Butler was driving the pickup.Sunday — Someone stole a red, 1997 Honda TRX400 all-terrain vehicle from a garage on West Portersville Road in Portersville. The theft happened between July 11 and Saturday.5:20 p.m. Saturday — Daniel P. Moore, no age given, of Chicora was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after his vehicle struck two other oncoming vehicles traveling on Route 68 near Hemphill Lane in Donegal Township.Moore fled on foot and was later found at his home. In addition to DUI, he faces hit-and-run charges.2:27 a.m. Saturday — Claudia L. Gallagher, no age given, of West Mifflin, Allegheny County, was arrested for suspicion of DUI on Staff Road near Route 8 in Brady Township.2:40 a.m. July 11 — Michael J. Brenneman, 37, of Chicora was arrested for suspicion of DUI on Route 68 near Fairmont Road in Fairview Township.

7:32 p.m. Saturday — Three unknown black females tried to take items worth nearly $210 from the Echo Unlimited Store at Prime Outlets in Springfield Township.The store manager recovered the property after the suspects left the store. However, the would-be thieves made their getaway in a copper colored Chevrolet Cobalt.Thursday — An unknown thief used a Mercer woman's stolen credit card Wednesday and Thursday to buy $352 in merchandise at various stores at the Prime Outlets in Springfield Township.
