Dec. 13 — Kenneth R. McCormick, 52, of Renfrew was charged with being more than 2½ times the state’s legal limit for alcohol in connection with a one-vehicle wreck last month at Whitestown and Meridian roads.

Police said McCormick crashed his car on an embankment shortly before 9 a.m. Nov. 22. They reported seeing an open can of beer in the middle console cup holder. He later failed field sobriety tests and was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test.

Toxicology results showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.22 percent, according to court documents. In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated.

In addition to driving under the influence, McCormick is charged with driving with an open container of alcohol, disregarding traffic lanes and careless driving.

2:47 p.m. Dec. 9 — Richard C. Redick Jr., 18, of Harrisville was arrested for drugged driving on North Broad and Chestnut streets.

He is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, driving a vehicle with an improper muffler and driving with an obstructed window.

Redick’s passenger, Madison N. Sowa,18, of Butler is also charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and five counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.

[naviga:h3]Penn Township Police[/naviga:h3]

Dec. 11 — An Allegheny County man was charged with being more than 2½ times the state’s legal limit for alcohol when he was arrested last month at Kelly Chevrolet on Route 8.

Police said they were called about 4 p.m. Nov. 29 to the business where the defendant, John J. Dolansky, 61, of Bakerstown, was reportedly found passed out in a vehicle. He smelled of alcohol, according to court documents, but denied he had been drinking.

He submitted to a portable breath test device that showed he had alcohol in his system. He also failed field sobriety testing.

Police took Dolansky to the Butler police station for a formal breath test, which showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.209 percent. In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated.

He is charged with driving under the influence.

Dec. 12 — Chance M. Smith, 20, of Butler was charged with drugged driving stemming from an earlier traffic stop for speeding in Center Township. Police said they clocked him about 10:50 p.m. Dec. 2 traveling 48 mph in a 35 mph zone on Mercer Road.

Smith and his passenger, Kiersyn M. Knight, 18, of West Sunbury, both admitted that they had smoked marijuana about 15 minutes before the traffic stop, according to court documents.

Police said Smith failed field sobriety tests. He was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test. Toxicology results showed he had marijuana in his system.

A search of the vehicle, documents said, turned up two plastic baggies containing suspected marijuana and two drug-smoking pipes. Knight claimed ownership of those items.

Smith is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, speeding and disregarding traffic lanes.

Knight is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

12:03 a.m. Dec. 10 — A Florida woman was arrested for causing a disturbance at a relative’s home on Sutton Lane in Clay Township. Police said Dianne M. Potochny, 48, of Holly Hill continued to yell at her family and cause a scene despite being warned to be quiet.

Potochny was arraigned on charges of disorderly conduct and public drunkenness. She was later released on $6,000 unsecured bail.

2:50 a.m. Dec. 9 — Justin R. Henry, 39, of Grove City was arrested for drunken driving after police found him slumped over the steering wheel of a running vehicle at the Sheetz convenience store in Harrisville.

Police said they had to open the door and shake Henry before he awakened. When a trooper asked to see his driver’s license, according to court documents, the defendant handed over a credit card.

He failed field sobriety tests, and police took him to the barracks for a breath test, which showed his blood-alcohol was 0.152 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.

Henry was arraigned on charges of DUI and careless driving. He was placed in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail following arraignment. Police also noted in documents that Henry has two prior DUI convictions.

Dec. 6 — Robert M. Codispot Jr., 30, of Clay Township was arrested on felony drug and other charges stemming from a May traffic stop for speeding in Muddy Creek Township. According to court documents, police subsequently found dozens of pills and other drug contraband during a search of his vehicle.

Codispot was stopped May 27 after a radar unit clocked him traveling 83 mph in a 55 mph zone on Route 422 westbound.

During a consent search of the vehicle, according to court documents, police seized a metal case that had an assortment of 65 pills, a crack pipe and a broken pen with residue.

Some of the pills were later identified as oxymorphone, gabapentin and diazepam. Other pills were not immediately identified.

Codispot was arraigned on a felony charge of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. He also was cited for speeding and driving a vehicle without insurance. He was released on $2,500 unsecured bail following arraignment.
