Monday — Police charged Darla Brown, 39, of Portersville with ringing up false merchandise returns while working at the Kohl's store in Butler Crossing on Aug. 7 and pocketing the money. She is charged with theft and receiving stolen property.Sunday — A car driven by Patrick McElravy, 20, of Renfrew struck the rear of another vehicle at Route 68 and Home Avenue. John Benko, 54. of Butler was driving the other vehicle.6:42 a.m. Friday — Sport utility vehicles driven by Walter Jordan II, 31, of Chicora and Chelsea Whitney, 44, of Butler collided at Route 68 and Camelot Drive. Whitney suffered a minor back injury. Police said Jordan was cited for illegally passing a vehicle on the right.

Monday — An unknown thief between noon and 12:45 p.m. stole a backpack from a vehicle parked in the 500 block of Stewart Avenue. The backpack contained a wallet, money, checkbook and several books totaling about $250.

4:35 p.m. Saturday — Cars driven by Tammy L. Redmond, 44, of New Castle and Teri L. Tumolo, 50, of Zelienople collided at Route 68 and Whitestown Road in Connoquenessing Township.Two passengers in Redmond's car, a 20-year-old woman and a 17-year-old girl, both from New Castle, were treated at Butler Memorial Hospital for minor injuries.4:43 a.m. Saturday — A pickup truck driven by Joshua R. Kummer, 21, of Evans City hit a culvert and rolled onto its side on Route 528 near Little Creek Road in Connoquenessing Township. Michael D. Senopol, 21, of Evans City, a passenger, suffered a minor injury.3:40 p.m. Friday — A pickup driven by Dennis E. Somerville, 59, of West Sunbury struck a utility pole along Eagle Mill Road near Ragan Road in Connoquenessing Township. Police said Somerville, who suffered minor injuries, was cited for careless driving.8:43 a.m. Friday — A car driven by Nelliemae M. Sleasman, 19, of New Castle struck the rear of a pickup on Route 422 in Franklin Township. Bobbie J. Krouse, 19, of New Castle, a passenger in the car, suffered minor injuries.Police said Sleasman was cited for following too closely to another vehicle. Florian M. Schmidhamer, 50, of Harmony was driving the pickup.Friday — Police charged James R. Lacaze, 52, of Butler with drunken driving stemming from a 1:02 a.m. Aug, 15 traffic stop on Interstate 79 in Muddy Creek Township. In addition to driving under the influence, Lacaze is charged with careless driving, disregarding traffic lanes and driving an unregistered vehicle.Thursday — Police filed theft charges against Nathan V. Seezox, 22, of Butler, who is accused of taking $201 from cash registers at the Boscov's store in Clearview Mall, Center Township, where the suspect was employed. Seezox allegedly took the money between Aug. 8 and 16.Thursday — An Ohio man reported that someone stole $1,000 in currency from the glove box of his car at Route 422 Auto Sales on Currie Road in Muddy Creek Township. The theft happened between 9:30 and 10 a.m.4:01 p.m. Aug. 18 — Justin L. Herp, 31, and Kristen Graham, 27, both of Butler were arrested after they allegedly assaulted one another at a Bennett Drive home in Connoquenessing Township. Each suspect was arraigned on charges of simple assault and harassment, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail.2:35 p.m. Aug. 18 — A car driven by Francis M. Nowicki, 86, of Butler and a pickup driven by Max J. Stadler, 74, of West Sunbury collided on Route 422 near Schantz Road in Prospect. Both drivers suffered minor injuries. Police said Nowicki was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.12:23 p.m. Aug. 18 — An unidentified green car struck an SUV driven by Cristie L. Crytzer, 40, of Cabot in a hit-and-run crash on Marwood Road near Lauer Lane in Winfield Township.Aug. 18 — An unknown burglar stole a pickup from a garage at a home on Euclid Road in Clay Township. The silver 2004 Chevrolet Colorado was taken between 9 p.m. Aug. 17 and 8 a.m. Aug. 18.The pickup, equipped with an extended cab, had the Pennsylvania license plate YAK1550. Anyone with information about the burglary and theft is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.Aug. 18 — About 120 feet of copper electric cable, worth $720, was stolen from a home on West Liberty Road in Worth Township. The theft happened between 4 p.m. Aug. 17 and 9 p.m. Aug. 18.8:20 p.m. Aug. 16 — Four people were hurt in a two-vehicle collision on Route 422 in Franklin Township.The crash happened when a car driven by Amanda D. Streckeisen, 21, of Ellwood City rear-ended a minivan driven by Leo P. Cyphert, 68, of Butler.Brian Payment, 21, of Ellwood City, a passenger in the car, was flown by medical helicopter to an unknown Pittsburgh hospital. Cyphert was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.Streckeisen and Camron Mariotti, 20, of Slippery Rock, a passenger in the van, were treated at the scene for minor injuries. Police said Streckeisen was cited for careless driving.Aug. 15 — Nothing was taken in a burglary at a Grove City Road home in Slippery Rock Township. The break-in happened between 12:50 and 2:30 p.m.

6:01 a.m. Monday — A red wig-wearing woman waving a handgun walked into a Springfield Township convenience store and demanded that the clerk hand over money from the cash register. The clerk at the Kwik Fill hesitated briefly and another customer waked in, prompting the unknown armed robber to leave the store empty-handed.The suspect is white, 5 feet, 6 inches tall and about 175 pounds. Along with the red wig, she wore a blue, short-sleeve shirt, gray long skirt, sunglasses and a black scarf.Police said no one was injured. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-662-6162.Aug. 10 — Police filed drunken driving and numerous other charges against Mitchell Lagun, 26, of Grove City stemming from a one-vehicle crash about 7:35 p.m. Aug. 7 on Harrisville Road near Route 965 in Worth Township, Mercer County.Lagun, in addition to driving under the influence is charged with driving with a suspended license, child endangerment, reckless endangerment, driving on the wrong side of the road, disregarding traffic lanes, and driving at an unsafe speed.Other charges include reckless driving, careless driving, false reports to police and appearing in public under the influence.
