EMT injured in ambulance wreck on I-79
Two people were injured when a tractor trailer crashed into an ambulance causing it to collide with a third vehicle on I-79 Monday morning.
LANCASTER TWP — An EMT was injured when a tractor trailer rear-ended an ambulance Monday morning on Interstate 79, while the emergency vehicle was responding to a separate crash on the highway.
The crash occurred around 9 a.m. at mile marker 88 on I-79, according to emergency dispatch logs. The ambulance was on its way to a crash at mile marker 90 on I-79 when congestion along the road caused traffic to slow down, and resulted in the tractor-trailer rear-ending the ambulance.
The ambulance driver suffered minor injuries in the crash, according to state police.
Troopers said more information on the crash, and the identities of those injured, was not immediately available.
