4:56 p.m. Monday — John A. Johnson Jr., 63, of Butler is accused of a hit-and-run crash on Upper Shore Street. Police suspect Johnson was driving a pickup truck that hit a car and did not stop.The owner of the car, a 38-year-old Butler man, saw the crash and contacted police. The car sustained damage to the rear and driver's side. Police said the crash also knocked a No Parking sign off its post.Officers checked the area and found the suspected pickup truck at Johnson's home on Negley Avenue. He admitted being in a crash but claimed his truck hit a wall.5:15 p.m. Sunday — Brandie D. Blystone, 21, of Butler was arrested after she allegedly shoplifted several items from the Family Dollar store at Pullman Square.Police said Blystone stole two baby outfits and four boxes of Fig Newtons. She drove away but was stopped a short time later on Pillow Street near South Sixth Avenue.She is charged with retail theft.Butler Township police earlier this month charged Blystone with retail theft after she allegedly tried to steal about $52 worth of merchandise from Walgreens on April 11. A preliminary hearing in that case is set for May 17.In an unrelated case, township police accused her of retail theft after she attempted to leave Wal-Mart in Butler Commons with about $128 worth of merchandise Feb. 22, according to court documents. That case is pending in Butler County Court.
6:07 p.m. Saturday — Diana Toogood, 28, of Butler was hurt when she lost control of her car, traveled up an embankment and struck a utility pole at Mercer Road and Bradmoor Lane. Toogood was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with unspecified injuries. Police cited her for driving at an unsafe speed.5:38 p.m. Friday — Vehicles driven by Sarah C. Myers, 25, and Travis Codot, 25, both of Butler collided at New Castle and North Duffy roads. Police cited Myers for running a red light.4:12 p.m. Friday — A pickup truck driven by William Kamerer, 39, and a sport utility vehicle driven by Joyce Waggett, 5, both of Butler collided at Route 68 and Delwood Lane. Kamerer was cited for making an improper left turn.Friday — Police arrested Michael T. Holuba, 36, after he allegedly assaulted Dawn Shoup during a domestic dispute at his Fairview Avenue apartment. Shoup told police Holuba kicked and pushed her, causing her redness and pain in the lower back.Holuba was arraigned on a charge of simple assault, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail.
8:12 p.m. Monday — Kristie L. Greenert, 35, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Hall Road in Brady Township.4:14 p.m. Monday — A teenage girl was hurt in a one-car crash on Interstate 79 in Muddy Creek Township. The crash happened when Jeffrey M. Ross, 48, of Spring Church, Armstrong County, lost control of the car and struck a bridge rail. The vehicle spun around and hit a guardrail.Tamara J. Ellsworth, 16, of Corry, Erie County, a passenger in the car, was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. She was wearing a seat belt. Police said Ross was cited for driving with worn tires.11:50 p.m. Sunday — Richard Bisceglia, 29, of Cranberry Township was arrested after he allegedly assaulted a woman at a West Portersville Road home in Portersville.Bisceglia was arraigned on charges of simple assault, theft and harassment, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $1,500 bail.2:30 a.m. Saturday — A pickup truck driven by James P. Murray, 47, of Pittsburgh struck a light pole at the Clearview Mall parking lot in Center Township. Police said Murray was cited for failing to immediately tell police of an accident.
4:57 a.m. Sunday — James C. Grace, 39, of Creighton, Allegheny County, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after his sport utility vehicle struck a ditch on Bear Street just south of Green Acres Road in West Franklin Township.Saturday — An unknown hit-and-run driver struck three mailboxes along Slate Lick Road in West Franklin Township. The vehicle was northbound between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. when it hit the mailboxes Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-543-2011.</B>
