A sport utility vehicle believed to have been used in a fatal shooting last week in Pittsburgh was recovered Wednesday in Butler, according to court documents.

The tan, 2003 GMC Envoy was found parked in front of a home on North Elm Street.

Pittsburgh police detectives subsequently obtained a search warrant for it and seized several items.

The significance of the items taken from the vehicle in regard to the homicide investigation was not immediately clear.

Alicia George, a spokeswoman with Pittsburgh's Department of Public Safety, did not return a telephone call or an email inquiry Thursday.

Butler police declined to comment.

It was not known if there are any suspects in the death of 29-year-old Anthony Bullock-Fields of Brentwood, who was gunned down Sept. 17 in Pittsburgh's Knoxville neighborhood.

No arrests have been made in his killing.

A public safety office news release said Pittsburgh police responded at 11:35 p.m. for reports of shots fired at an intersection and found Bullock-Fields lying in the street.

At least one witness reported the victim was shot and then run over by a tan SUV.

An autopsy ruled he died of “gunshot wounds to the trunk,” according to the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office.

A man told investigators that he saw the SUV, which had tinted windows, drive down the road and stop at the intersection, according to the search warrant application for the vehicle found in Butler.

“It appeared as if (Bullock-Fields) knew the occupants,” the witness recounted.

The witness said the victim “walked toward this car and then heard multiple gunshots ring out from this vehicle,” the warrant affidavit said.

The vehicle fled before the witness could provide any more information about it.

But footage from public surveillance cameras in and around the shooting scene were used to track the SUV and eventually to identify its license plate.

The plate showed the vehicle belongs to a 34-year-old woman, who lives in Butler.

Investigators also learned that the owner as late as Jan. 4 this year had a listed address in the Knoxville neighborhood, documents said.

Because police have not publicly identified the woman as a suspect, the Butler Eagle is not identifying her.

In the application for the search warrant, which District Judge William O'Donnell signed, detectives said they wanted to comb it for “latent fingerprints, DNA, trace evidence, (indications) of ownership and any firearms or ammunition.”

The search warrant inventory list, showed police seized the following items: a Garmin GPS unit, a title document for the vehicle, two Pennsylvania driver's licenses, a Starbucks Frappuccino bottle, an empty Pepsi bottle and a plastic plate.

It was not known if Pittsburgh or Butler police located the vehicle owner.
