ARMSTRONG COUNTY — A 16-year-old Shelocta boy was killed in a fire in Armstrong County overnight between Tuesday and Wednesday.

State police in Kittanning said the incident occurred along Oak Hill Road, South Bend Township, between 11:30 p.m. Tuesday and 2:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Police said the body of a teen was found in a shed at the home. The boy was believed to be sleeping in the shed that had heat and electric, and the parents awoke during the night and found the shed ablaze, police said.

There are no signs of foul play, however, the cause or source of the fire is under investigation by the state police fire marshal.

The name of the teen is being withheld pending the results of an autopsy and identification by the Armstrong County Coroner’s Office.

EAST FRANKLIN TWP, Armstrong County — Police believe that someone intentionally placed feces on the rear door mat of the Armstrong County VA Outpatient Clinic.

State police in Kittanning were investigating the incident as disorderly conduct after the feces were discovered Wednesday morning.

The investigation leads police to believe that someone intentionally placed either animal or human feces on the door mat.

More information was not immediately available.

The outpatient clinic is open Monday through Friday. VA Butler Healthcare is its parent facility, according to its website.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced that all driver’s license and photo centers, including the one on New Castle Road in Butler Township, will be closed Saturday through Monday for the New Year.

Driver and vehicle online services, including renewals, driver-history services, changes of address and driver exam scheduling, will still be available 24-hours-a-day at www.dmv.pa.gov.

CRANBERRY TWP — The 1996 Japanese romantic comedy “Shall We Dance?” will kick off the free 2018 series of international films presented by the Cranberry Area Diversity Network.

The film will be shown at 1 p.m. Jan. 13 at the Cranberry Public Library, 2525 Rochester Road.

The PG-rated feature, with English subtitles, will be followed by an open discussion led by Elena Geil, a former resident of Japan.

The Diversity Network, with support from Cranberry Township, creates programs designed to welcome visitors and new residents from different cultures into the township.
