[naviga:h3]Cranberry Twp Police[/naviga:h3]
9:25 p.m. Sunday — Police arrested Jae H. Choi, 33, of Pittsburgh after they were called to the Hyatt Place Hotel for a report of a man possibly intoxicated and having a medical emergency.
Choi was “sweating profusely” and “twitching” when officers found him, according to court documents. He also appeared confused and agitated. Police eventually arrested him, fearing he was a danger to himself and others.
Later, documents said, officers went to his room at the hotel and found suspected crystal methamphetamine.
Choi was arraigned on charges of possession of a controlled substance and public drunkenness. He was placed in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail following arraignment.
[naviga:h3]Evans City-Seven Fields Regional Police[/naviga:h3]
1:04 a.m. Saturday — Joseph E. Blacksmith, 43, of Valencia was arrested for drunken driving on Jefferson and South Jackson streets. Police stopped him for having an expired vehicle registration and for not using a right turn signal.
Blacksmith was taken to UPMC Passavant hospital in Cranberry Township for a blood test after failing field sobriety tests and submitting to a portable breath test device, court documents said,
Toxicology results showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.146 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.
Blacksmith was arraigned on charges of driving under the influence, driving an unregistered vehicle, driving a vehicle without valid inspection and failing to use turn signals.
Following arraignment, he was released on his own recognizance but under conditions of pretrial supervision. Among the conditions, court records show, is that he must refrain from alcohol or drugs, and wear a continuous alcohol-monitoring device.
[naviga:h3]Zelienople Police[/naviga:h3]
5:02 p.m. Friday — John R. Zeitler, 49, of Evans City was arrested after he allegedly assaulted his mother in the parking lot at Fox’s Pizza Den on East Grandview Avenue in Harmony.
The victim told police that she had driven to shop and pulled into the lot to call a friend. He said her son, who was in the passenger seat, became angry, according to court documents, and grabbed her by the right arm.
Zeitler “smacked the phone from (the woman’s) ear,” documents said, which caused a small scratch under her right eye.
The defendant was arraigned on charges of simple assault and harassment. He was released on his own recognizance under pretrial supervision. Among the conditions, court records show, is that he must refrain from alcohol or drugs, and wear a continuous alcohol-monitoring device.
[naviga:h3]Slippery Rock University Police[/naviga:h3]
Noon Oct. 9 — Cullen E. Bickham, 18, of Butler was found with prescription painkillers and suspected marijuana wax while seated on a park bench on North Road in Slippery Rock Township
Police said they approached Bickham and another young man who they suspected to be smoking marijuana. The other man, Zantae W. Weltner, 18, of Butler, handed over a marijuana pipe, according to court documents.
Bickham also turned over a plastic container that had a “trace” amount of marijuana wax and 18 pills in an unlabeled pill bottle, police said. The pills were later identified as hydrocodone.
Bickham is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia and possession of a small amount of marijuana. Weltner is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
Oct. 2 — Bryce F. Hanby, 18, of Sarver was charged with drugged driving stemming from an August traffic stop on Stadium Drive at West Lake Lane in Slippery Rock Township. He was stopped Aug. 30, police said, for not having his headlights on.
Hanby initially denied smoking marijuana earlier that evening, according to court documents, but he subsequently admitted he smoked a joint in the morning.
Police said he failed field sobriety tests and was taken for a blood test, which showed he had marijuana in his system. Additionally, his blood-alcohol level was 0.055 percent. In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.02 percent is considered intoxicated for drivers under 21.
Hanby is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, DUI by a minor, DUI, minors prohibited from driving with any alcohol in their system, underage drinking and a lighting violation.
[naviga:h3]State Police, Butler[/naviga:h3]
Friday — Token L. Roy, 40, of Butler was charged with driving on drugs with a child in his car stemming from an August traffic stop in Center Township. Police said he was pulled over about 8:50 p.m. Aug. 26 after they saw his car cross the center line twice on the 700 block of Sunset Drive.
Roy subsequently failed field sobriety tests and showed impairment during a drug recognition expert’s evaluation, according to court documents.
Police took Roy to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test that showed he had the drugs clonazepam and methadone in his system.
In addition to driving under the influence of a controlled substance, he is charged with child endangerment, driving with a suspended license, failing to keep right, texting while driving and careless driving.
