12:36 a.m. Saturday — Heather A. Kuhrt, 34, of Center Township was allegedly found with three used syringes and other drug contraband following a traffic stop on American Avenue near Whitmire Avenue.

A search of her purse, according to court documents, turned up the syringes as well as an empty stamp bag commonly used to package heroin.

Kuhrt is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, driving a vehicle with suspended registration and driving a vehicle without insurance.

Friday — Damian A. Smith, 34, of Butler was charged with having empty stamp bags of heroin, a syringe and marijuana pipe earlier this month on West New Castle Street. Police said they found him after officers received a call for a man reportedly intoxicated about 9 p.m. Oct. 1. He is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and public drunkenness.

Friday — Police charged Donald E. Piper, 51, of Butler with having drug contraband after they were called about 11:15 p.m. Oct. 1 to investigate a domestic dispute at an apartment in the 400 block of West New Castle Street. Piper was allegedly found with marijuana pipes, grinders, scales and plastic bags, court documents said. He is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

11:55 a.m. Sunday — A car driven by Ellen Romett 70, of Butler rear-ended a pickup truck on Route 8 just south of Beech Road. Michael Hoffer, 45, of Chicora was the other driver. Romett and Hoffer both suffered minor injuries that did not require hospital treatment. Both vehicles had to be towed.

11:55 a.m. Sunday — A car driven by Rachel Ellenberger, 23, of Butler and a sport utility vehicle driven by Christopher Geibel, 29, of Butler collided at Route 8 and Homewood Drive. No one was injured.

Sunday — Police said an unknown thief between Aug. 30 and Sept. 30 stole jewelry from a home on Sunbury Fields Lane in Center Township. There was apparently no forced entry into the home.

8:03 a.m. Saturday — Ellen A. Hilliard, 26, of Butler lost control of her car and struck an embankment on Route 38 just north of Ball Lane in Concord Township. She was wearing a seat belt and was not hurt. Police cited Hilliard for disregarding traffic lanes.

1:06 a.m. Saturday — Three children were hurt in a two-vehicle collision at Route 422 and the Interstate 79 north interchange in Muddy Creek Township.

The crash happened when a car driven by Joshua T. Wood, 20, of Greenville, Mercer County, struck another car. Katiana M. Dickens, 33, of New Castle was the other driver.

A 13-year-old girl, a 7-year-old girl and a 9-year-old boy, all of New Castle, who were riding in Dickens’ car, suffered unknown injuries. The two older children were taken to Butler Memorial Hospital. Both drivers and all passengers were wearing seat belts. Police cited Wood for driving at an unsafe speed, careless driving and a traffic-control signal violation.

Saturday — Someone damaged a trailer parked in the driveway of a home on Vogleyville Road in Summit Township. Damage was estimated at $100.

Saturday — An unknown vandal damaged a hunting blind and an archery target in woods behind a home in Liberty Township, Mercer County.

[naviga:h3]State Police, New Castle[/naviga:h3]

Oct. 5 — Daniel B. Kromer, 48, was arrested on charges he had inappropriate contact with a 12-year-old Grove City boy in July 2015 at his home on Busted Iron Lane in Washington Township.

Kromer was arraigned on felony charges of corruption of minors and unlawful contact with a minor and a misdemeanor charge of indecent assault of a person less than 13 years old.

The defendant is free on $5,000 bail.

[naviga:h3]State Police, Punxsutawney[/naviga:h3]

Wednesday — The state police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement cited Doc’s Tavern on Route 68 in Toby Township for violating the state liquor law by allegedly selling or furnishing alcohol to a minor.

The alleged violation occurred July 20. An administrative law judge will hear the case.
