Nicholas Feitl

A Butler man was sentenced to state prison in county court on Thursday, after pleading guilty to felony statutory sexual assault and misdemeanor indecent assault.

Nicholas C. Feitl, 30, was sentenced to two to five years in a state correctional institution by Judge Timothy McCune.

He was also ordered to undergo two years of state probation following his parole and register as a sex offender for 25 years, as well as pay for court costs.

Feitl was initially charged with felony rape, statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, two counts of aggravated indecent assault, and corruption of minors as well as misdemeanor charges of child endangerment and six counts of indecent assault. The remaining charges were dismissed as part of the plea.

Butler City police filed the charges after an incident on Aug. 23, 2016, at a home in Butler.

Police said a 14-year-old girl reported on Aug. 31, 2016, that she encountered Feitl at a party at her mother's house, After the party ended, police said, the girl found herself alone with Feitl in the dining room. She said he touched her suggestively while she was lying on a bench.

She told him, “No, please don't,” according to a police affidavit, “and he stopped.”

But when the teenager moved into the living room, where she laid down on a mattress to go to sleep, police said Feitl followed her. Later, he again touched her in a sexually explicit manner.

Documents state she told him no a second time and then a third time, before Feitl forced himself on her, sexually assaulting and raping her.

The attack, according to the teen's account, awakened a younger girl who also had been asleep in the living room.

When he heard the other girl, Feitl stopped. The victim told investigators that she went into the bathroom and advised Feitl to leave or she would tell her mother what he did.

Following a brief argument, she said, he left.

While police were looking for Feitl, who was homeless at the time, an employee at the Butler Public Library on North McKean Street called to report that he was at the location.

Feitl was found seated at a computer terminal on the second floor and arrested.
