EAST FRANKLIN TWP, Armstrong County — State police do not know who left feces on a rear doormat at the Armstrong County VA Outpatient Clinic.

Trooper David Endlich, with the state police in Kittanning, said Thursday that there was no surveillance footage of the rear door area and that the police have no suspects.

Endlich said he believed that the feces were left there intentionally, but it was unclear if they were from a person or an animal.

The VA police were also investigating and told state police that there was an incident involving a person at the clinic earlier this month, but that person’s identity was not given to state police, he said.

The Armstrong County clinic is part of the VA Butler Healthcare group of facilities. VA Butler Healthcare serves 18,000 veterans and has facilities in Center, Butler and Cranberry townships. It also operates outpatient clinics in Armstrong, Clarion, Lawrence and Mercer counties, according to its website.

The VA police in Butler could not be reached for comment Thursday.
