Police link alleged dealer to overdose
A Butler man is accused of selling heroin to a woman who later overdosed on the drug but was revived.
State police Wednesday arrested Austin G. Harmon, 20, of Butler on felony and misdemeanor drug possession charges. He is in the Butler County Prison on $50,000 bail.
Police began their investigation about 12:40 a.m. Tuesday when they were called to a home in Connoquenessing Township where 20-year-old Tiffany Marie Kroll had reportedly suffered a heroin-related overdose.
According to court documents, Kroll required emergency medical treatment.
Investigators subsequently learned that Kroll on Monday “had communicated with” Harmon “to purchase heroin,” a police affidavit said.
The two eventually met that same day at a doughnut shop in Butler. Both then walked to Fairview and Apple avenues in the city, where Kroll gave the defendant $40 in currency, police said.
“Harmon then provided Kroll with three stamp bags of heroin,” documents said, and “then went their separate ways.”
Police allege Kroll used the drugs that the defendant sold her.
District Judge Wayne Seibel arraigned Harmon on charges of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance.
His preliminary hearing is set for Monday.
