A Clarion area man is accused of stealing about $7,000 in building materials from an Allegheny Township business.

Christopher Bradybaugh, 53, was charged Tuesday, Sept. 22, with one felony count each of theft, trespassing and receiving stolen property following a May 19 incident.

Police said they were dispatched May 19 for a report of a suspicious person at Cavco Manorwood after a neighbor called the business owner to report strange activity after hours. Police later conducted a traffic stop on a Ford F-250 on Route 38. The driver told police he’d purchased shingles from Bradybaugh, who he believed was a service manager at the business, for $3,500. He said Bradybaugh had a key to the business.

When police spoke with Bradybaugh, he said he was permitted to sell things from the business, according to charging documents.

Police then spoke with the business owner again and were told the shingles were estimated to be worth $7,000. The owner said Bradybaugh was the business’s safety coordinator, but he was not to have a key or authorized to sell merchandise.

Police said Bradybaugh later changed his statement and said he was never at the business that day.

His preliminary hearing has not been scheduled.
