Butler man facing charges for boarding school bus
A Butler man is facing charges for allegedly boarding a school bus transporting Butler Area School District students Thursday morning and threatening students.
Butler City police said Clifford Anderson, 44, was arrested Thursday evening, and charged with misdemeanor counts of terroristic threats, harassment and unauthorized entry of a school bus. He was driving when he was pulled over by police and taken into custody, police said.
At approximately 7 a.m. Thursday, police said a Valley Lines bus driver reported that a man entered the bus she was driving on Lincoln Avenue near Center Avenue, threatened students and used profane language. She told him to leave the bus several times before he complied, police said. Police said they used video to identify Anderson as the suspect.
Police said it appears that there was a dispute among children, and that Anderson allegedly decided to intercede, threatening the numerous students on the bus.
Anderson is being held in the county prison in lieu of $20,000 bail. His preliminary hearing has been scheduled Nov. 17 before District Judge William Fullerton.
“We’re very appreciative for the Butler City police’s swift action on this matter,” said Brian White, school district superintendent.
In addition, he said the district takes student safety seriously, and that anyone who enters a bus or school building without authorization will be prosecuted.
