Klimczyk

Margaret “Maggie” Klimczyk, of Mars, beloved daughter, sister and aunt passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 2, 2022, after a brief illness.

Maggie was born Dec. 31, 1959, at St. Francis Hospital in Olean, N.Y., to Mark J. and Nancy Shearer Klimczyk. Both of her parents preceded her in death, with her mother passing on Jan. 4, 2022.

Maggie graduated from Olean High School. While there, she was a member of the OHS Golf Team and sang in the chorus. She participated in many all-county and all-state music events, and spent one summer touring Europe and singing in Joseph Crupi’s chorus.

Maggie attended Wells College and graduated in 1981 with distinction in the special field of history and public policy. At graduation, she received the Julia Taylor Martin Prize in American history. While in college, she interned for Western New York Congressman Stanley Lundine. Her sojourn in Washington led her to decide on the law as an avocation.

After applying and being accepted to a number of law schools, she chose Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. To help defray the cost of law school, she had a number of jobs at the university and in town. Most notably, she would talk about the job she took on the pig farm to help defray expenses. Maggie graduated from Drake University in 1984, with a dual doctorate in jurisprudence, and a master’s degree in business administration.

Maggie worked in Iowa for a short time after graduation before relocating back East. In 1987, she began her career as a lawyer with Chubb Insurance, which offered her the chance to work and see the world. In addition to working in several U.S. cities, she also spent time working in their offices in Canada, Australia, London and, most recently, Bermuda.

Maggie loved to travel and enjoyed her trip with St. John’s parish to Italy. Most recently, she toured Ireland with her sister. She also enjoyed eating at the Beef-N-Barrel on her many return trips to Olean.

Once Maggie’s mother moved from Olean to Pennsylvania, Maggie took a job with Chubb, working from home so that she could spend time with her.

Maggie was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan. She attended many Steelers, Penguins and Pirates games, in addition to a Super Bowl, Stanley Cup games and the Pirates pennant game in 2015. She volunteered at the men’s and women’s PGA U.S. Open events at Oakmont Country Club, and also at the 2006 MLB All-Star game that was held in Pittsburgh. She also enjoyed collecting sports memorabilia.

Maggie was a philanthropist and enjoyed donating to various local charities, in addition to her church and other religious causes.

Maggie was always ready to help her family at a moment’s notice. She will be greatly missed by her sister, Karen Klimczyk; her brothers, Tim (Leshel) Klimczyk, Tom (Debra) Klimczyk and Kevin (Amy) Klimczyk; her seven nieces and nephews, Justin Klimczyk, Christian Klimczyk, Tyler Klimczyk, Lauren Klimczyk, Alex Matthews, Jamie Klimczyk and Anne Marie Klimczyk; and two great-nephews, Davis and Cooper Matthews.

She was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Robert P. Isaac Jr.

KLIMCZYK — Funeral services for Margaret “Maggie” Klimczyk, who died Saturday, April 2, 2022, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at St. Ferdinand Roman Catholic Church, 2535 Rochester Road, Cranberry Township, with a Mass of remembrance.

Burial will be held at the convenience of the family at St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany, N.Y.

Arrangements are under the direction of MCDONALD-AEBERLI FUNERAL HOME, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars.
