Butler Redevelopment Authority uncertain about future of office
The Butler Redevelopment Authority doesn't know if it will keep its offices in the tier parking garage after the new owner takes possession of the building.
City Council agreed last week to sell the garage and the parking lot adjacent to the City Building for $3.75 million to Transportation Services Consultants. The authority's offices are on the ground floor of the garage.
Fred Reese, authority chairman, said there were no discussions between the authority and city about the sale. Reese added that the authority will contact the new owner to find out if it will be able to continue renting the space or move to a new location.
“They might have plans for it,” Reese said.
In unrelated business, the authority agreed to look for a part-time bookkeeper and assistant to Veronica Walker, acting executive director.
The employee will work up to 14 hours two days per week, at a wage of $15 an hour.
Walker said she has resumes from candidates, and the authority will not advertise for applicants. She said she wants to hire someone by mid-February.
