Ross Manuel
Ross Kenneth Manuel, 86, of Butler, passed away Dec. 21, 2019, in his daughter Carol’s home surrounded by his family.
He was born Feb. 21, 1933, in Butler, and was the son of the late Frank and Violet Manuel Ross.
Ross was the youngest of four boys and was devoted to his late brothers, Charles and Jack, as well as his surviving brother, Gene.
He was a member of the 1950 WPIAL football champs and was chosen to play for the Western Pennsylvania All-Star team of 1952.
He graduated from Butler High School in 1953.
Ross was a heavyweight boxer for the Butler Cubs and a Golden Glove winner.
Ross coached midget football for 12 years in Butler.
He retired from Armco as a machinist in 1994.
Ross enjoyed cheering for his grandchildren, Chloe and Chaz, at every sports practice or game.
He could always be found with his good friends at the local Donut Connection.
Ross was a dedicated Steelers fan who never missed the Sunday game. He was affectionately known by his friends as “Red” and will be missed by many.
He was a loving father to his daughter, Carol D. Danilchak of Butler; and his son, Robin G. Manuel, and his fiancée, Stephanie Marshall, of Butler; one grandson, Chaz Danilchak, and his fiancée, Heather Morida, and her daughter, Kayleigh Butera, of New Castle; one granddaughter, Chloe (Adam) Geibel of Durham, N.C.; one brother, Gene Manuel of Butler; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ross was preceded in death by his wife, Constance Bester-Manuel, who passed away in 1982; two brothers and their wives, Chuck and Janet Manuel, and Jack and Wilma Manuel; and his sister-in-law, Helen Manuel.
MANUEL — The receiving of friends of Ross Kenneth Manuel, who died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2019, will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler, with a memorial service to follow at 4 p.m.
