Georgia M. Rowland, 85, of Chicora, went to be with the Lord early Saturday afternoon, Aug. 15, 2026, at Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation in Butler.

Georgia was born May 8, 1941, in West Winfield Township, Butler County. She was the daughter of the late George Alvin and Mae E. Barnhart Beer.

She was proud to be a member of the first graduating class of Knoch High School in 1959. Georgia was a member of Chicora Alliance Church. She retired from the federal government in Boyers and in her earlier years, had been employed by Bobbie Brooks in Butler and the Moonlight Mushroom Mine in West Winfield. Later, Georgia was employed as a cook for the Senior Center in Chicora. She was a longtime member of the Women of the Moose in Chicora and enjoyed playing bingo, cooking, the company of family and friends, and her two dogs, “Tippy” and “Skippy.” Georgia always looked forward to the Chicora Memorial Day Parade.

Georgia is survived by two children, Douglas Rowland and his wife, Tracy, of Mobile, Ala., and Debra “Debi” Spohn and her husband, James “Jim,” of Chicora; two granddaughters, Amber Rose Lander and her husband, Matthew, of Mobile, Ala., and Emily Ann Rowland and her fiancé, Alex Troutman, of Saltsburg; a nephew, David Barnhart and his wife, Judy, of New Jersey; her best friend, Sandy Burgoon, of Birdsboro; as well as a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Delmar Eugene “Smokey” Rowland, who passed away Sept. 20, 1977; and two brothers, Richard Barnhart and Alvin Leroy Beer.

The family wishes to express special thanks the staff at Sunnyview, especially Shannon, for their special care and kindness.

ROWLAND — Friends of Georgia M. Rowland, who died Saturday, Aug. 15, 2026, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18, at HILE FUNERAL HOME of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Road, Chicora.

A funeral service will be held from the funeral home at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, with the Rev. Mark Wallace, pastor of the Chicora Alliance Church, officiating.

Interment will be in Saxonburg Memorial Church Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Mrs. Rowland’s name may be made to The Butler County Humane Society, 1015 Evans City Road, Renfrew, PA 16053.
