5:39 p.m. Monday — An argument over a cigarette lighter ended with a man in the Butler County Prison and his girlfriend with a bloody nose. Steven J. Riley, 41, was arrested after the incident at the couple’s home in the 300 block of East Brady Street.
Police allege Riley punched the victim in the face. He was arraigned on a charge of simple assault and placed in prison on $10,000 bail.

10:22 p.m. Sunday — No one was hurt when a vehicle caught fire on Route 8 near Comfort Lane. Jack Bouch, 33, of Butler told police he was driving the vehicle when he noticed smoke coming from it.
He pulled over, according to a police report, and a short time later the vehicle caught fire. Bouch and his four passengers got out safely.
6 p.m. Sunday — Justin Brewer, 31, of Parker lost control of his vehicle on ice-covered Delwood road and struck a tree. Brewer and his four passengers were not injured.
2:51 a.m. Sunday — Michael J. Harper, 34, of Butler allegedly damaged property during a domestic dispute at a woman’s apartment on Old Plank Estates. Damage was estimated at $100.
Harper is charged with criminal mischief and harassment.
10:07 p.m. Saturday — A car driven by D’Angelo Ledger, 23, of North Bloomfield, Ohio struck another vehicle at Route 422 and Greenwood Drive. Patrick Sarnese, 55, of Butler was the other driver. No one was injured. Police said they cited Ledger for a stop sign violation and driving an unregistered car.
4:05 p.m. Feb. 11 — No one was injured, but both vehicles had to be towed after a two-vehicle crash on North Eberhart Road. The crash occurred when a van driven by Raymond Ross, 69, of Coraopolis, Allegheny County was turning left. Aleesha Gaiser, 25, of Harmony was the other driver. Police cited Ross for making an improper left turn.

10:04 a.m. Monday — A pickup truck struck an embankment after traveling over a patch of ice on the 1300 block of Route 68 in Donegal Township. A police report did not identify the driver, who drove the vehicle from the scene.
9:33 a.m. Monday — A Westmoreland County man lost control of his pickup and crashed into a ditch on Interstate 79 in Worth Township. Neither the driver, Ross J. Hayes, 29, of New Kensington, nor his three passengers were injured.
6:41 p.m. Sunday — A car driven by Amanda L. Bellis, 21, of Chicora struck another car in the 700 block of Route 68 in Oakland Township. David E. Young, 65, of Butler was the other driver.
Police cited Bellis for driving at an unsafe speed.
6:22 p.m. Sunday — Rex A. Wasser, 60, of Lower Burrell, Westmoreland County lost control of his car and struck a guardrail on Route 422 just west of Route 528 in Muddy Creek Township.
Wasser was cited for driving too fast for conditions.
5:10 p.m. Sunday — A sport utility vehicle struck and damaged a utility pole along Fairview Road in Fairview Township. A police report did not identify the driver. The vehicle had to be towed.
4:37 p.m. Sunday — Two people were injured when their SUV struck an embankment and rolled onto its roof on I-79 in Muddy Creek Township. The driver, Laura L. Sapet, 23, and her passenger, Joshua C. Botak, 22, both of Pittsburgh, were taken to UPMC Passavant in Cranberry Township with suspected minor injuries.
Police cited Sapet for driving at an unsafe speed. The vehicle had to be towed.
3:38 p.m. Sunday — One person was hurt in a three-vehicle crash in Center Township. The wreck occurred when an SUV driven by Ellie M. Beach, 18, of West Sunbury struck a car at Route 308 just south of Stoney Run Road.
The collision spun the car driven by Carla J. Hillwig, 57, of West Sunbury into an SUV driven by Mary E. McGill, 27, of Slippery Rock. Hillwig, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered an apparent minor injury.
Police cited Beach for driving at an unsafe speed.
3:37 p.m. Sunday — Lucas J. Seybert, 20, of Butler lost control of his car and struck an embankment on Linwood Drive just east of Grossman Drive in Summit Township. The car ended on its roof.
Seybert was cited for disregarding traffic lanes and driving at an unsafe speed.
7:40 p.m. Feb. 13 — A Kentucky man was apparently hurt when he lost control of his tractor-trailer and crashed and landed on its passenger side in the median on I-79 in Lancaster Township. Phillip C. Ornett, 66, of Lexington was taken with unspecified injuries to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Police said he faces a ticket for disregarding traffic lanes.
