11:58 p.m. Wednesday — Amanda Blanchard, 37, was arrested on charges that she assaulted her boyfriend during a domestic dispute at their apartment in the 100 block of South Main Street.

Police were called to investigate an argument between the couple, according to court documents, but after they got there, officers saw Blanchard “violently pushing (the victim) into the wall.”

The officers forcibly placed the defendant’s hands behind her back but she pulled away from them, police said. They took her to the ground, documents said, but she continued to resist arrest.

Blanchard was arraigned on charges of simple assault and resisting arrest, and was placed in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail.

Wednesday — Jaedyn L. Jankovich, 27, was arrested in connection with the alleged assault of her 7-year-old daughter last month at their home in the 400 block of Mitchell Avenue.

The victim told an official that her mother Oct. 4 slapped her on the side of the face, according to court documents. Authorities said the girl had bruises “to be consistent with the size of an adult hand.”

A forensic interview was conducted by the Butler County Child Advocacy Center on Oct. 18 as a police detective watched from outside the room.

The girl described being “smacked” by her mother, and recounted that “it hurted” and then she cried.

Jankovich was arraigned on a charge of simple assault and later was released on her own recognizance.

6:09 p.m. Tuesday — A sport utility vehicle driven by Jared W. Todorowski, 23, of Gibsonia rear-ended a pickup truck on Route 8 just west of Volkswood Drive in Center Township. Kevin Smith, 52, of Butler was the other driver.

Both drivers and a passenger in the truck were all wearing seat belts and no one was injured. Both vehicles had to be towed. Police cited Todorowski for driving at an unsafe speed.

4:25 p.m. Tuesday — Jason McWilliams, 29, of Slippery Rock was arrested on a probation violation after police say they found him highly intoxicated and sitting in the middle of McGregor Road near Sutton Lane in Clay Township.

Police said he was subsequently taken to the Butler County Prison.

4:06 p.m. Tuesday — A car driven by Casey J. Reiland, 33, of Harrisville struck a deer on Route 8 east of Muddy Creek Drive in Brady Township. Reiland, who had a seat belt on, was not hurt but his car had to be towed.

Oct. 30 — Police charged two men — Brandon M. Geist, 33, of East Butler and James A. Carroll III, 19, of Sharon, Mercer County — in connection with a 2016 break-in at a Center Township home.

Geist was arrested and an arrest warrant was issued for Carroll on charges of burglary, trespass, theft and receiving stolen property, all felonies. Carroll also was charged with a summary count of criminal mischief.

The defendants are accused of burglarizing an apartment on North Ridge Lane on Sept. 8, 2016. They are alleged to have stolen two shotguns, an electric guitar, amplifier, a 40-inch television, several video games and a bag of coins.

The stolen property, according to court documents, was valued at $3,319.76.

Police obtained a search warrant on Dec. 9. 2016, and recovered the items at a home on Findlay Road in Cherry Township. The investigation eventually led to the charges against Geist and Carroll.

Oct. 29 — Police charged Brittany L. Christy, 25, of Slippery Rock with being more than 3½ times the state’s legal limit for alcohol in connection with an August one-vehicle crash in Cherry Township

Christy was injured in the wreck about 9:20 p.m. Aug. 17 when her car struck a tree along Route 308. Police said she appeared to be “highly intoxicated,” according to court documents. She was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for treatment.

When police looked in the car for her vehicle registration and insurance cards, they noticed a large pill bottle with no prescription label. The bottle contained white pills, later identified as gabapentin, for which Christy did not have a prescription.

Toxicology results from a blood draw showed her blood-alcohol level was 0.289 percent. In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated. She also had mitragynine in her system.

Mitragynine is the active ingredient in kratom, a plant that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has labeled an opioid.

Christy is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, DUI, driving under the influence of a combination of drugs and alcohol, possession of a controlled substance, disregarding traffic lanes, careless driving and not wearing a seat belt.
