Wednesday — Claudia J. Copple, 64, of Brady Township was charged with drugged driving stemming from an Oct. 11 reckless driver call in the area of West New Castle and North Washington streets. Police eventually found the defendant about 5:30 a.m. stopped in a sport utility vehicle on West Pearl Street near North Main Street.

Copple was passed out in the driver’s seat, according to court documents, and the vehicle was running. Officers were able to awaken her and she admitted taking prescription medication that she was not supposed to take while driving.

She subsequently was given field sobriety tests that indicated she was impaired, police said. Copple was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test, documents said, that showed she had the drugs zolpidem, fentanyl and norfentanyl in her system.

She is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance.

8:24 p.m. Monday — Paul S. Allison, 47, was arrested on charges that he assaulted his wife during a domestic dispute at their home on the 300 block of West North Street.

Police said the victim told them that Allison became angry with her over a money card and bent one of her fingers back, causing her pain. She accused him of smashing out the front glass storm door by kicking or punching it, court documents said.

Allison was arraigned on a charge of simple assault, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail.

5:13 p.m. Oct. 26 — Isaac T. Moore, 22, was arrested after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend during a domestic dispute at his apartment on Greenview Drive.

The woman told police, according to court documents, that Moore hit her on the side of her head while she was holding her 13-month-old child. He also slapped her on the same side of the face. She suffered minor injuries.

Moore was arraigned on a charge of simple assault. He was placed in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail following arraignment.

4:57 p.m. Wednesday — A car driven by Emma Monteleon, 16, of Butler rear-ended another vehicle on Route 8 north near the GetGo store. The other vehicle driven by Anna Pritts, 65, of Butler was pushed into a third vehicle that Melinda McConnell, 42, of Butler was driving.

No one was hurt but Pritts’ vehicle had to be towed. A police report said the teen faces a ticket for driving at an unsafe speed.

12:12 a.m. Wednesday — One person was hurt when a vehicle driven by Elizabeth A. Ford, 23, of Slippery Rock struck the front end of another vehicle on New Castle Road. Gregory Senge, 18, of Slippery Rock was the other driver,

A police report did not identify the person injured in the accident. Both vehicles were towed. Police cited Ford for disregarding a flashing red light.

Oct. 25 — Adam M. Will, 39, and Pamela L. Morabito, 43, both of Butler were both charged in connection with an August altercation at Mama Rosa’s restaurant on Old Plank Road. The incident about 8 p.m. Aug. 22 left a 62-year-old Butler man with broken ribs.

Will is charged with terroristic threats, two counts each of reckless endangerment and simple assault, disorderly conduct, three counts of harassment, and driving an unregistered vehicle.

Morabito is charged with simple assault, reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct, two counts of harassment, and driving an unregistered vehicle.

Oct. 25 — Charles J. Smouse, 29, and Hilary L. Knisely, 28, both of Butler were charged in connection with a false return incident in September at the Butler Commons Walmart. Police said the defendants on Sept. 5 returned merchandise for which they had not paid, and received a fraudulent $358.06 return. Smouse and Knisely are both charged with theft by deception and conspiracy

Oct. 22 — Police charged Shaquirla L. Franklin, 28, of Lyndora and Lamaria M. Franklin, 19, of New Kensington, Westmoreland County, with an Oct. 20 shoplifting incident. The women are accused of failing to scan infant items and food products, valued at $301.65, while using a self-checkout register at the Butler Commons’ Walmart. Both defendants are charged with misdemeanor counts of retail theft and conspiracy.

3:41 p.m. Oct. 20 — Cheryl D. Franklin, 54, of Lyndora allegedly failed to scan $121.24 in food items while using a self-checkout register at the Butler Commons’ Walmart. She is charged with a summary count of retail theft.

5:27 p.m. Oct. 15 — Rushawn Grange, 22, of Slippery Rock allegedly shoplifted $188.20 in merchandise at the Butler Commons Walmart. He is charged with a misdemeanor count of retail theft.

3:17 a.m. Sunday — Ronald P. Lamping Jr., 47, of Slippery Rock was arrested for drunken driving after he was stopped traveling 60 mph in a posted 25 mph zone on West Main Street. Lamping is charged with driving under the influence and speeding.

Saturday — An unknown thief stole a white Trek bicycle from the Festival Lot on South Broad Street. The bicycle was taken between 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-458-7925.

10:49 p.m. Oct. 18 — A Grove City teenager was arrested after he allegedly threw a knife at another male during fight on the 300 block of College Avenue. Witnesses told officers that the defendant, 19-year-old Paul R. Smithers Jr., threw a knife at another male, “coming close to the victim’s head,” according to a police report. Smithers was arraigned on charges of aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and simple assault. He was placed in the Mercer County Jail on $25,000 bail following arraignment.

Wednesday — Police reported that someone threw a beer can that struck a 27-year-old Rimersburg man in the face while he was riding an all-terrain vehicle on Carwick Road in Toby Township. A police report did not identify the man or indicate if he was injured.

3:18 p.m. Oct. 23 — A car driven by Mackenzee E. Claypoole, 18, of Chicora was rear-ended in a chain-reaction crash on Route 68 just south of Bauer Road in Monroe Township. The wreck happened when a car driven by James L. Young, 89, of Leeper ran into the back of a car driven by Ray Fetzer, 81, of Sligo. The collision forced Fetzer’s vehicle into the back of Claypoole’s car. Young and Claypoole were both stopped in their vehicles when the crash occurred.
