4:32 p.m. Monday — A vehicle driven by Michael Kerner, 21, of Butler struck an embankment and overturned on Delwood Road. No one was injured but the vehicle had to be towed.

[naviga:h3]Slippery Rock University Police[/naviga:h3]

Oct. 10 — A Potter County teenager was found with suspected marijuana in his student housing room at Slippery Rock University. Police said they went there on a call for a possible drug violation.

Nicholas W. Harmon, 18, of Genesee turned over to police a bottle with two small baggies containing suspected marijuana, court documents said, and a marijuana pipe.

He is charged with two counts of possession of a small amount of marijuana and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Oct. 1 — Ethan J. Shomo, 19, of Pittsburgh was arrested on charges he stole a man’s bicycle — a specialized so-called “stumpjumper” valued at $5,000 — that was parked outside the Old Main building at Slippery Rock University.

The owner told police that the bike was taken between 12:20 and 1 p.m. Police said surveillance video helped them identify Shomo as the thief, according to court documents.

An officer called the defendant, who later that day came to the police station. He had the allegedly stolen bike with him. He admitted taking the bike and going to a friend’s house near the station.

Shomo was arraigned on felony charges of theft and receiving stolen property. He is free on $5,000 unsecured bail.

Friday — John T. McFarland, 44, no known address, was charged with trying to illegally buy a firearm at a Summit Township gun store in July.

McFarland is accused of providing false information on a federal form that was required July 3 when he attempted to buy a 9 mm handgun at Sportsman’s Supply Company on Freeport Road,

When his information was entered into the Pennsylvania Instant Check system, an automated system by which gun dealers can determine if someone can legally buy a gun in the state, he was denied the purchase.

McFarland is charged with unlawfully attempting to buy a firearm, a felony, and unsworn falsification to authorities, a misdemeanor.

Friday — Police obtained an arrest warrant for a Mercer County woman accused of forging two checks belonging to a former boyfriend from Center Township.

Sarah A. Trumphour, 28, of Sharon is charged with forgery, a felony, and theft by unlawful taking and theft by deception, both misdemeanors.

The victim reported the allegedly forged checks, which totaled $925, on April 17 and May 9, according to court documents.

8:35 p.m. Oct. 5 — Bonnie M. Davenport, 52, of Emlenton allegedly damaged three vehicles during a reported domestic incident at a home on Snake Road in Parker Township.

Davenport is accused of smashing the windshield of a sport utility vehicle with a blunt object. Police said she also used her car to strike two vehicles — a car and a pickup truck.

She is charged with criminal mischief and harassment.

11:11 a.m. Oct. 8 — An unidentified vehicle, described as a red Ford F-150 pickup truck, reportedly drove away after hitting a guardrail on Jackson Center Polk Road just west of Wheeler Road in Worth Township, Mercer County.

[naviga:h3]State Police, Punxsutawney[/naviga:h3]

12:15 a.m. Sunday — Jacob J. Zurynski, 18, of Wampum, Lawrence County, was caught with suspected marijuana in connection with a patrol detail during Slippery Rock University’s homecoming.

The state police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement conducted the detail.

Zurynski is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana, underage drinking and possession of alcohol, and disorderly conduct.
