1:41 a.m. Thursday — Malinda M. Bernardi, 44, of Butler was arrested on charges she bit her boyfriend during an argument at his home on Standard Avenue. The victim, police said, had bite marks and was bleeding on his left side.

Bernardi was arraigned on a charge of simple assault and released on her own recognizance.

7:30 p.m. Tuesday — Mannon L. Rose, 29, of Butler was arrested after he allegedly struck his 10-year-old daughter’s hand, causing a broken knuckle, during an incident at a home on Holcombe Avenue.

The injury happened, according to court documents, when Rose apparently attempted to discipline the girl. When he tried to swat her on the buttocks, police said, the child moved her hand to block the swat.

The defendant hit her hand and injured the girl’s left ring finger. She went to Butler Memorial Hospital the next day and was diagnosed with a fractured knuckle.

Rose was arraigned on a charge of simple assault and released on his own recognizance.

Wednesday — A Washington County man was cited for a one-vehicle accident last week on the 400 block of New Castle Road.

Police said Kenneth Filewich, 32, of Donora lost control of his vehicle and overturned after hitting an embankment on New Castle Road. Filewich, who suffered a hand injury, fled the scene, according to a police report.

He is charged with failing to stop and give information after an accident, failing to notify police immediately after an accident and careless driving.

Tuesday — A Pittsburgh man was charged in a hit-and-run accident last month that injured his passenger and damaged a yard on Park Road. Police allege David M. Bane, 36, did not stop after the wreck about 12:40 p.m. Sept. 6.

The property owner, according to court documents, followed the suspect’s car and eventually found it parked at the Valencia Post Office. Bane and his passenger were there but the defendant walked away before police got there.

The passenger had a bleeding head wound and a bruised and swollen eye. He was taken to an unspecified hospital for treatment of his injures.

Police subsequently identified Bane as the driver, documents said. He is charged with causing an accident involving an injury while not properly licensed, hit-and-run, driving with a suspended license-DUI related, accidents involving injury and driving at an unsafe speed.

Tuesday — Justin A. Hayward, 21, of Zelienople was charged with possession of marijuana stemming from a traffic stop last month at Route 8 and Glade Mill Road. Police said they stopped him shortly after 11 p.m. Sept. 22 for traveling outside his lane.

Hayward admitted that he had marijuana in his book bag, according to court document. A search of the bag turned up the suspected drug and a marijuana pipe.

He is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and disregarding traffic lanes.

Tuesday — Police charged an Allegheny County woman with having marijuana in connection with a traffic stop about 3:45 p.m. Sept. 22 on Route 8 and Leslie Road. Abagil M. Kimmerling, 29, of Allison Park was stopped after police saw her vehicle with an expired inspection sticker.

During the stop, court documents said, she handed over an item resembling a sunglass holder that had suspected marijuana and a marijuana pipe in it.

Kimmerling is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and driving with a suspended license and driving a vehicle without valid inspection.

Tuesday — Police charged Brian L. Perani, 45, of Donegal Township with being four times the state’s legal limit for alcohol following a traffic stop last month in Oakland Township.

Troopers were called about 8:40 p.m. Sept. 8 for an erratic driver on Route 68 at Seven Hills Road. The caller, a motorist, reported the driver had swerved off the road several times and crossed into the oncoming lane twice, nearly causing a crash with three other vehicles.

Police said they subsequently found Perani’s sport utility vehicle pulled over on Route 68. He admitted to earlier having “a few” drinks of alcohol, according to court documents. He failed field sobriety tests and was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test.

Toxicology results showed he had a blood-alcohol level of 0.321 percent. In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated. He also had marijuana in his system.

Perani is charged with driving under the influence of a combination of drugs and alcohol, DUI, driving under the influence of a controlled substance, driving with a suspended license-DUI related, failing to keep right, disregarding traffic lanes, careless driving and reckless driving.

Tuesday — Timothy R. Gerhold, 41, of Butler was charged with drugged driving stemming from a one-vehicle crash in July in East Butler. Police said he lost control of his sport utility vehicle July 22 and struck an embankment, overturning on Old East Butler Road.

Police said Gerhold admitted that he had smoked marijuana earlier that morning, according to court documents. He was arrested after showing signs of impairment during field sobriety tests. A search turned up a suspected marijuana joint in one of his pockets.

The defendant was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test. Toxicology results, documents said, confirmed he had marijuana in his system.

In addition to driving under the influence of a controlled substance, he is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana, disregarding traffic lanes, driving at an unsafe speed, careless driving and not wearing a seat belt.
