2:56 a.m. Thursday — Matthew K. Sheppeck, 29, of Butler allegedly fled after a one-vehicle crash at Whitestown Road and Acre Avenue.
Police said Sheppeck lost control of his vehicle and drove into a field before traveling back across the road and hitting a tree in the front yard of a home. He fled the scene.
He was later identified and his vehicle was towed.
Sheppeck is charged with failing to notify police of an accident, failing to stop and give information or render aid after an accident, and careless driving.
[naviga:h3]State Police, Kittanning[/naviga:h3]
8:16 p.m. Aug. 18 — Bradley S. Craig, 39, of Chicora was arrested for driving on drugs and leading police on a chase in Manor Township. He also is accused of hitting multiple vehicles on Route 422 before fleeing police.
A trooper eventually had to use a pursuit intervention technique, or PIT maneuver, to end the chase, according to a police report.
Craig was arraigned on a felony charge of fleeing or attempting to elude police. Additionally, he is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance and hit-and-run, both misdemeanors.
He was also cited for a number of traffic violations including failing to immediately notify police of an accident, failing to stop and give information or render aid after an accident, failing to keep right, disregarding traffic lanes, failing to yield for an emergency vehicle, making an improper turn, careless driving and reckless driving.
Craig was placed in the Armstrong County Jail on $10,000 bail following arraignment.
11:38 a.m. Aug. 14 — A car driven by Molly F. Vantine, 25, of Sarver struck the back of another car on Wible Road in East Franklin Township. Police said just before the crash the other driver, Robert D. Long, 26, of Kittanning was slowing down to make a left turn onto Parkview Drive.
No one was injured but at least one of the cars had to be towed. Police cited Vantine for driving at an unsafe speed.
[naviga:h3]State Police, Butler[/naviga:h3]
6:24 a.m. Aug. 10 — Erick S. Cupps, 29, of Butler allegedly stole a dolly and an ashtray from the Fieldhouse bar and restaurant on Route 356 in Jefferson Township.
Video surveillance captured the theft that occurred in the back patio bar area, according to court documents. Police said they identified Cupps as the suspect after they found photos of him on Facebook.
“The defendant was cooperative,” a police affidavit said, “and reported he did take the ashtray and dolly.” He brought the items to the station and police returned them to the owner.
Cupps is charged with misdemeanor theft.
