Saturday — Joshua J. White, 30, of Lyndora was arrested after he allegedly broke into a woman’s home on the 400 block of Virginia Avenue and stole at least $900 in currency.
The victim told police that she went to sleep about 2 a.m. and when she awoke about 10 a.m. she discovered the money missing.
According to court documents, a neighbor saw the defendant “responding in between the houses” at about 2 a.m.
The victim subsequently reported that White “admitted to her that he had been in her house in the past without permission,” a police affidavit said.
White was arraigned on charges of burglary and theft, and later released on nonmonetary bail.
11 p.m. July 25 — Michael L. Smith Jr., 26, of Pittsburgh was caught with suspected marijuana after a traffic stop in the area of South Monroe and East Cunningham streets. He was pulled over, police said, because his car’s registration was expired.
The car smelled of marijuana, according to court documents, and a subsequent search turned up a small plastic bag with suspected marijuana in it. Police said they also found a glass bowl with suspected marijuana residue.
Smith is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and driving an unregistered vehicle.

8:21 p.m. Monday — Kassidee Waltman, 17, of Butler was hurt in a two-vehicle accident at New Castle and North Duffy roads. She suffered a minor injury, police said, but refused medical treatment.
The other driver, Michael Kulbachi, 28, of York, Pa., was not hurt. Waltman’s car sustained moderate damage was had to be towed.
Tuesday — Kathy A. Burkett, 54, of Butler was arraigned on a felony charge of shoplifting in connection with a July 14 incident at the Butler Commons Walmart. Police said Burkett removed $480.58 worth of merchandise from the store.
Burkett, who was previously barred from the store, is charged with a felony count of retail theft and a summary count of defiant trespass.

7:53 a.m. Monday — A distracted driver was blamed for a one-car wreck in Washington Township. Police said Brandi M. Gold, 29, of Kittanning lost control of the car on Fairview Road just east of Route 38.
The vehicle struck a speed limit sign and a utility pole. Gold, who was wearing a seat belt, was not hurt but her car had to be towed. Police cited her for disregarding traffic lanes.
Sunday — Police have a suspect in the theft of $300 from a home on Beaus Drive in Muddy Creek Township.
The investigation continues, said police, who only identified the suspect as a 27-year-old Portersville man.
July 24 — Police charged Jennifer L. Gross, 35, of Ellwood City with having marijuana and other drug contraband stemming from a traffic stop this month in Franklin Township. She was pulled over about 9 a.m. July 8 for speeding and weaving in and out of traffic on Route 422.
When asked why she was traveling so fast, Gross told police that she was “trying to get to the methadone clinic,” according to court documents. She was arrested after failing field sobriety testing.
A search of her car turned up a baggie with suspected marijuana in it, a glass smoking pipe and a leather pouch containing an unknown white powder and a plastic straw.
Gross was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test, documents said, and toxicology results indicated she had the following drugs in her system: marijuana, a metabolite of cocaine, methadone and fentanyl.
In addition to driving under the influence, Gross is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Additionally, she is charged with driving with a suspended license, failing to keep right, improperly passing a vehicle, disregarding traffic lanes, not using turn signals, driving at an unsafe speed and careless driving.
July 23 — Joseph E. John, 29, of Butler was charged with drunken driving stemming from a speed enforcement detail on Route 422 in Franklin Township.
Police said a hand-held radar device about 9:40 p.m. July 16 clocked two motorcycles — one that John was driving — traveling 80 mph in a 55 mph zone, according to court documents. A trooper who was following the cyclists paced their speeds at more than 95 mph.
Both drivers pulled over at the Route 528 off-ramp. Police suspected John was drinking, documents said, and he admitted that he had “a couple beers” at dinner about 45 minutes before the traffic stop.
The defendant failed field sobriety tests and he was taken for a breath test, which showed his blood-alcohol was 0.08 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.
John is charged with driving under the influence and speeding.
July 23 — Police charged an Allegheny County man with drugged driving in connection with a traffic stop last month on Interstate 79 in Worth Township. Steve A. Luketic Jr., 30, of Glassport was stopped about 10:15 a.m. June 28 because his pickup truck’s registration was expired.
Luketic admitted that he had smoked marijuana a short time earlier, according to court documents, and he told police that he had a marijuana grinder in the truck.
The defendant failed field sobriety tests. He was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test. Toxicology results confirmed he had marijuana in his system.
Luketic is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving an unregistered vehicle, driving with a suspended license, driving without a license and careless driving.
[naviga:h3]State Police, New Castle[/naviga:h3]
1:31 p.m. July 20 — A Butler County man was flown by medical helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital with injuries following a two-vehicle crash in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County.
Police said David H. Tack, 53, of Butler was westbound on Route 422 just west of Mount Hope Furnace Road when his car struck the back of a Mack truck. A police report did not identify the other driver.
Witnesses reported seeing Tack’s car “being driven at a high rate of speed and in (an) erratic manner” before the crash, according to the report. Emergency crews had to extricate him from the car.
He was flown to UPMC Presbyterian with unknown injuries.
