10:08 p.m. Thursday — Allysa M. Stefanowicz, 21, of Butler allegedly caused a disturbance at Old Plank Estates. Police said she was “yelling and swearing” outside of an apartment.

Stefanowicz, was “warned numerous times to stop,” according to a police report, but she did not. She is charged with a misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct.

1:55 a.m. June 12 — Richard E. Weber Jr., 44, of Butler was caught with a suspected crack pipe following a traffic stop on Route 8. Police said he was riding in the car that was pulled over for having a suspect registration.

When police checked on Weber’s personal information, according to court documents, they learned that he was wanted on a bench warrant. On the floor of the vehicle where he was seated, police said they found the crack pipe.

Weber is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. He also was arrested on the warrant.

10:29 p.m. Tuesday — Stephen D. Spithaler, 50, of Evans City was arrested after he allegedly assaulted his father during a domestic dispute on Route 528.

The victim told police that he and his wife earlier had driven to Route 528 looking for their son who they learned had been drinking and was walking home, according to court documents.

The couple found the defendant and an argument ensued, police said. Spithaler is accused of grabbing his father around the throat through the vehicle window and trying to choke him.

He also allegedly struck the victim in the forehead, documents said, causing a lump and a cut.

An Evans City-Seven Fields Regional Police officer subsequently found Spithaler, who had gotten into a vehicle. The officer stopped the vehicle on Hill Street in Evans City.

The defendant was arraigned on charges of simple assault, disorderly conduct, harassment and public drunkenness, He was placed in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail following arraignment.

Tuesday — Police charged a Virginia man with driving on drugs in connection with a traffic stop last month in Slippery Rock Township. The defendant, Ian Gregory Mitchell, 46, of Manassas, was stopped just after midnight May 26 at Route 173 and Etna Road.

Police said they smelled marijuana coming from Mitchell’s sport utility vehicle, according to court documents, and he admitted having smoked the drug “within a couple hours” of the stop.

A search of the vehicle, police said, turned up a plastic film canister that contained suspected marijuana and a glass smoking pipe.

Mitchell was eventually taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test that confirmed he had marijuana in his system, documents said.

He is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Tuesday — A Lawrence County woman was charged with drugged driving stemming from a traffic stop last month on Interstate 79 in Muddy Creek Township. Police said they stopped Destiny M. Youngworth, 22, of New Castle on May 25 after she was clocked traveling 89 mph in a 70 mph zone.

Youngworth turned over a glass smoke pipe, according to court documents, after police questioned her about the marijuana smell coming from her car. She admitted smoking marijuana as she was driving.

Police arrested her and took her to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test. Toxicology results, documents said, showed marijuana in her system.

She is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, speeding, careless driving and reckless driving.

Monday — An Armstrong County man was arrested on charges he illegally tried to buy two rifles in February at the Clearview Mall Rural King store in Center Township.

Police said Robert L. Jones, 48, of Yatesboro allegedly provided false information on a federal form that was required Feb. 18 when he attempted to buy a Savage Arms Axis .308-caliber Winchester rifle and a Savage Arms Axis .30-06 Winchester Springfield rifle.

When his information was entered into the Pennsylvania Instant Check system, an automated system by which gun dealers can determine if someone can legally buy a gun in the state, he was denied the purchase.

Police noted in charging documents that Jones in 2003 was denied a purchase of a firearm at a Butler Township sporting goods store.

He was arraigned Monday on charges of unlawfully attempting to buy a firearm, a felony, and unsworn falsification to authorities, a misdemeanor. He remains free on his own recognizance.

Monday — Bruce T. Gruver, 57, of Chicora was charged with drunken driving stemming from a motorcycle wreck earlier in the month in Donegal Township that left him injured and in the hospital.

Police began their investigation June 7 after being called to ACMH Hospital in East Franklin Township, Armstrong County, where a neighbor had driven Gruver. He told hospital staff he was injured when his vehicle struck a deer in Miller Road in Donegal Township.

He had a cut to the right side of his head and he was having trouble moving his left side, according to court documents.

While speaking to the defendant at the hospital, police said they smelled alcohol coming from him. He denied drinking alcohol that night but a portable breath test device indicated otherwise, documents said. He refused to submit to a blood test, documents said.

A trooper later that night spoke to the neighbor who drove Gruver to the hospital. She recounted that the accident happened about 9:20 p.m. on Trimbur Road just north of Quetot Road. She heard the crash and found the defendant walking around the road. He asked her to take him to the hospital.

Police went to the crash scene and found the carcass of the deer that Gruver had struck with his cycle.

In addition to DUI, Gruver is charged with driving an unregistered vehicle, driving without a motorcycle license, driving with a suspended license-DUI related, driving a vehicle without insurance, driving a vehicle without valid inspection, driving a motorcycle without required protective equipment, careless driving and failing to stop and give information after an accident.

Wednesday — Police reported they are investigating the theft of $2,000 in welding equipment from a service truck in South Buffalo Township. The property, owned by a 48-year-old South Buffalo man, was taken between 9 p.m. June 15 and 1 p.m. June 16.

Tuesday — Daryl L. Myers, 30, of Petrolia was charged with drunken driving stemming from a June 1 traffic stop at Route 422 and Glade Drive in East Franklin Township

Myers is charged with driving under the influence, careless driving and driving a vehicle without valid inspection.

12:55 a.m. June 15 — Kyle D. Dickson, 28, was arrested after he allegedly fired two warning shots from a gun in a residential area where he lives in the 800 block of Butler Road in East Franklin Township.

Dickson was arraigned on charges of reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct. He was placed in the Armstrong County Jail on $20,000 bail following arraignment.

4 p.m. June 8 — Melissa S. Painter, 36, of Kittanning was charged with retail theft after an incident at the Walmart at Hill Top Plaza in East Franklin Township. Police said Painter stole clothing.
