June 5 — Police charged a Pittsburgh woman with trying to trade prescription medication for marijuana last month outside a convenience store on Franklin Street.
Destiny R. Hurrelbrink, 22, is accused of approaching a man May 19 in back of the store and asking if he “wanted to trade pills for weed,” according to court documents. The man said the defendant showed him a pill bottle that she had in her purse.
Police subsequently searched Hurrelbrink’s purse and found a bottle with no prescription label on it. There appeared to be two different kinds of unknown pills in the bottle.
Additionally, police said they found a suspected drug-snorting straw in the purse.
Back at the station, police examined the pills and found they were promethazine, a medication commonly used to treat nausea, and benzonatate, a cough medication.
Hurrelbrink is charged with misbranding drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia and disorderly conduct.
[naviga:h3]State Police, Butler[/naviga:h3]
Thursday — An unknown vandal damaged a window at Culligan Water on Route 8 in Center Township. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.
Monday — Kristi K. Kiefer, 42, of Butler was charged with illegally having prescription drugs earlier this month in Center Township.
Police said they found Kiefer about 3 a.m. June 7 passed out in a car at a convenience store on Route 8. A trooper tapped on the window and eventually the defendant awakened.
She told police that she uses medications, according to court documents, but does not use illicit drugs. She turned over to police a pill bottle that she had in her bra, police said.
Among the 15½ pills in the bottle for which Kiefer did not have prescriptions, documents said, were amphetamine and dextroamphetamine, and alprazolam.
She is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.
June 5 — Thomas W. Krchelich, 35, of Middlesex Township was charged with driving on drugs in connection with an April traffic stop in Middlesex Township. Police said they pulled him over April 20 for running a stop sign along Route 8.
Krchelich acknowledged that he had marijuana in his car and that he had recently smoked the drug, according to court documents. Police said they seized a plastic container with marijuana in it as well as a marijuana pipe from the center console.
Field sobriety tests indicated Krchelich was impaired and police took him to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test. Toxicology results showed he had marijuana, buprenorphine and norbuprenorphine in his system.
He is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, driving with a suspended license and a stop sign violation.
June 5 — Police charged Brandon M. Sherkosky, 20, of Ellwood City with drunken driving stemming from a traffic stop for speeding last month in Clearfield Township. He was pulled over May 15 on the 1200 block of Route 422.
Police smelled marijuana coming from the car, according to court documents, and Sherkosky handed over a bag with marijuana in it. He also acknowledged that he had smoked the drug that day.
He was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test following field sobriety testing. Toxicology reports showed he had marijuana in his system.
Sherkosky is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of a small amount of marijuana, speeding, careless driving and not wearing a seat belt.
[naviga:h3]State Police, Kittanning[/naviga:h3]
1 a.m. June 8 — An unknown thief tried to pass a counterfeit bill at the Sunoco store on Butler Road in West Franklin Township. Police said their investigation continues.
4:37 a.m. June 7 — Shane A. Everetts, 25, of North Washington was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of a controlled substance on Worthington Slate Lick Road in West Franklin Township. A police report provided no other information about the arrest.
3:57 p.m. June 5 — Clint N. Lineman, 31, of Rimersburg was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of a controlled substance after his car struck a utility pole along Route 268 in Sugarcreek Township. The crash closed the southbound lane for several hours.
Police said Lineman was taken for a blood tests and later placed in the Armstrong County Jail for a probation violation. Charges of drugged driving are pending toxicology results.
Police said Sugarcreek and Washington Township volunteer firefighters assisted and a Sugarcreek Ambulance crew assisted at the scene.
1 p.m. June 5 — Christie A. Cornman, 47, of Leechburg was arrested on charges she allegedly fought with police while troopers were on a well-being check in [naviga:h3]South Buffalo Township.[/naviga:h3]
Police said they found Cornman on the Buffalo Bridge. When she was detained, according to a police report, she struck an officer in the leg as police tried to place her in handcuffs.
She is charged with aggravated assault, driving under the influence, simple assault, reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct and harassment.
11:15 a.m. June 4 — Mark W. Petering, 39, of Worthington was arrested on felony and misdemeanor warrants out of Oklahoma following a traffic stop on Walnut Street in Kittanning.
He is charged with being a fugitive from justice, and placed in Armstrong County Jail on $50,000 bail. Police said Oklahoma authorities plan to extradite Petering.
