10:13 a.m. Saturday — A Maryland woman was arrested on charges she tried to pass a counterfeit check at the PNC Bank branch on Roxsan Drive.

Dawnisha N. Hackey, 25, of Essex was arraigned on a felony charge of forgery and misdemeanor charges of attempted theft and bad checks. She was placed in the Butler County Prison on $10,000 bail following arraignment.

Police said the bank manager reported that Hackey appeared there with a check made out for $1,461.51 from what appeared to be a business. The bank suspected the check was bogus, according to court documents.

An officer alleged the defendant signed the check and provided the bank with her Maryland identification card and a debit card.

Hackey told police that she received the check as payment for cleaning from someone named “Jonathon,” documents said.

4:53 a.m. Saturday — Sarah M. Jones, 25, was arrested after allegedly hitting her boyfriend in the forehead with her cell phone during a domestic dispute at their apartment on the 300 block of Grove City Road.

The altercation, court documents said, left the victim with a one-inch gash on his forehead above the left eye.

Jones was arraigned on charges of simple assault and harassment. She was released on her own recognizance. She was ordered to have no contact with the victim.

Saturday — Ronald P. Roberts, 55, of Connoquenessing Township was arrested on a felony warrant in connection with a reported car theft last month in Connoquenessing Township.

Police said a woman told them that she lent Roberts her Honda Accord to drive to work May 10, according to court documents. She said he did not return the car even after she subsequently contacted him several times by phone and text.

A trooper said that he, too, tried calling the defendant, and left a voicemail for him to call the barracks.

On May 16, documents said, Roberts contacted the victim by phone and “related now that the police were involved he would not be returning the vehicle.” He also allegedly claimed that he would destroy the Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card on his cell phone “so his location could not be traced.”

Police that same day entered the victim’s car as stolen with the National Crime Information Center. A be-on-the-lookout advisory also was sent out for Roberts and the car.

Roberts was arraigned on a felony charge of theft and a misdemeanor charge of unauthorized use of a vehicle. He was ordered placed on pretrial supervision and released on his own recognizance.

Thursday — Jeffrey J. Chittester, 42, of Winfield Township was charged with being more than three times the state’s legal limit for alcohol stemming from a traffic stop last month at Route 356 and Winfield Road in Winfield Township.

Police said they stopped Chittester shortly after 11 p.m. May 17 after he made a left turn in front of a trooper’s cruiser, causing the officer to “slam on (his) brakes” and nearly hit the defendant’s pickup truck.

The trooper activated his emergency lights and siren, according to court documents, and eventually came upon Chittester, who had pulled into his driveway.

The defendant allegedly admitted to having had eight alcoholic drinks at a bar in Sarver. He failed field sobriety tests and was taken for a breath test, which showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.263 percent. In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated.

In addition to driving under the influence, Chittester is charged with making an improper left turn and careless driving.
