Tuesday — Robert A. Hague, 25, of Portersville was charged with drunken driving stemming from an April hit-and-run wreck on Route 422 near the Prospect exit in Muddy Creek Township.

Police said they spoke to the other driver, a woman, who recounted that her car was struck by a sport utility vehicle that attempted to pass her about 2:15 a.m. April 7, according to court documents.

She believed the driver of the SUV turned off the vehicle’s headlights before driving away. But she was able to get the license plate number.

Troopers used the plate to obtain Hague’s address. They found him at his home and apparently sleeping in the driver’s seat of his SUV, which had damage to its front passenger side bumper. Police had to awaken him.

The defendant admitted that he had been drinking at a friend’s house in Prospect, documents said, and acknowledged that he was intoxicated when he left. He said he was unaware of the damage to his vehicle.

She sped up and swerved to avoid being hit by the other vehicle, which struck a tree in the yard of a home on the 2700 block of Route 8.

Moss told police that he lost control of his vehicle after momentarily looking down for something. He admitted “he takes four different medications but denied taking any illicit drugs,” documents said.

He subsequently showed impairment during field sobriety tests, police said, and admitted smoking marijuana earlier that morning.

He was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test that indicated he had marijuana, methadone and hydroxyzine in his system.

In addition to driving under the influence of a controlled substance, Moss is charged with careless driving, failing to keep right and disregarding traffic lanes.
