11:34 a.m. May 8 — Tyler Kern, 25, of Butler was charged with retail theft after an incident at Get Go, 1124 N. Main St. Ext. Police said Kern took six full boxes of candy bars, valued at $157.68, off the shelf and walked out of the store.

1:10 p.m. May 8 — Tyler Kern, 25, of Butler was charged with retail theft and receiving stolen property at 3B’s Tobacco, 118 Point Plaza. Police said Kern stole two large 50 packs of Bic lighters, valued at $129, and left the store while the clerk was distracted by customers.

4:57 p.m. April 14 — Katelyn Brown, 20, of Karns City, was charged with theft by deception, receiving stolen property and retail theft after two incidents at Walmart. Police said in the first incident Brown obtained two items of bedding, valued at $123, and completed a false return in exchange for a gift card. She later went back to the store and obtained a storage tote, valued at $5, and concealed items within the tote and left the store without paying, police said.

5:24 p.m. May 13 — Jack Bosancic Jr., 37, of Butler, was charged with having a counterfeit inspection certificate, driving with a suspended license, turning movements and signals and unlawful activities after an incident on Route 356 at the Butler Commons Plaza. Bosancic was charged after a traffic stop was made in the Target parking lot, police said.

May 22 — Dennis J. Aaron, 51, of Slippery Rock was charged with drunken driving stemming from a one-vehicle wreck earlier in the month in Worth Township. He lost control of his van May 22 on West Park Road, police said, and struck a mailbox and utility pole.

He blamed the crash on the slippery road and initially denied having consumed alcohol, according to court documents. He showed impairment during field sobriety tests and subsequently admitted to earlier drinking beer.

A breath test showed Aaron’s blood-alcohol level was 0.166 percent.

In addition to driving under the influence, he is charged with driving at an unsafe speed, failing to keep right, careless driving and failing to immediately notify police of an accident.
