Tuesday — Galen R. Young Jr., 35, of Pittsburgh was charged with having marijuana and other contraband stemming from a December traffic stop on Interstate 79 in Muddy Creek Township.

Police said they made the stop about 6:50 p.m. Dec. 5 after running the license plate on Young’s sport utility vehicle and finding it was expired. The vehicle smelled of marijuana, according to court documents, and the defendant turned over a small baggie of marijuana.

A search of the SUV turned up 6.2 grams of marijuana, a vapor with liquid THC and an unknown white powder in cellophane, documents said.

Young is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, and driving an unregistered vehicle.

May 22 — An Ellwood City man was charged with being more than 2½ times the state’s legal limit for alcohol in connection with a motorcycle crash last year in Slippery Rock Township. The wreck happened on Crestview Road about 1:40 a.m. July 16, 2017.

Police said the driver, Ryan P. Kelosky, 25, was being treated for injuries in an ambulance when they got there. His cycle was in the gravel driveway of a home.

The defendant was eventually taken to UPMC Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh for unspecified injuries. Police on Feb. 28 obtained a search warrant for Kelosky’s medical records.

The records indicated his blood-alcohol level about 2½ hours following the crash was 0.214 percent, according to court documents. In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated.

Kelosky is charged with driving under the influence, driving an unregistered vehicle, driving without a motorcycle license, driving a vehicle without insurance, driving a motorcycle without eye protection, driving at an unsafe speed and careless driving.

May 22 — Amanda N. Knight, 27, of Butler was charged with DUI during a May call for an unresponsive woman in a car in Harrisville.

Police said they spoke to a paramedic who assisted in the call about 8 p.m. May 12 at a convenience store parking lot on North Main Street. The medic told police he found the defendant unresponsive in the car that was still running with the brake lights on, according to court documents.

The medic was eventually able to awaken Knight and he turned off the car. Knight refused medical treatment.

Police said she admitted having “two or three drinks” earlier that day, documents said. She was subsequently arrested after failing field sobriety tests. A breath test later showed her blood-alcohol level was 0.206 percent.

May 22 — Police charged an Erie County man with driving on drugs and alcohol in connection with a suspected overdose in April at a Slippery Rock convenience store.

The defendant, Steven S. Uckele, 38, of Erie, was found unresponsive about 9:45 p.m. April 15 in the driver’s seat of his vehicle at the store’s parking lot on Franklin Street. An ambulance crew removed him from the vehicle and administered the opioid antidote Narcan, according to court documents.

The drug revived Uckele and he refused further treatment. He was arrested after failing field sobriety testing and was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test.

Toxicology reports later showed he had fentanyl in his system, documents said, and his blood-alcohol level was 0.076 percent.

Uckele is charged with DUI, driving under the influence of a controlled substance and driving under the influence of a combination of drugs and alcohol.
