12:31 a.m. Tuesday — Matthew A. Gibson, 33, of Butler Township was arrested after police deployed a Taser on him during an incident in the 700 block of New Castle Street.

Police said they found Gibson “passed out” in a vehicle at a parking lot. He allegedly gave a bogus name when an officer asked for his identification, according to court documents.

He is accused of running from officers after getting out of the vehicle. Police said they chased and subdued Gibson after an officer deployed his Taser at New Castle Street and Fifth Avenue.

Gibson was arraigned on charges of resisting arrest and false identification to law enforcement authorities and placed in Butler County Prison on $2,500 bail.

Tuesday — Police reported that a 16-year-old student was charged in an alleged assault last week at Butler High School.

The student, a Butler boy, is accused of punching another student. Police said the victim suffered a black eye and a concussion.

The boy is charged with simple assault and harassment.

5:10 p.m. Monday — Dillon Heyne, 25, of Butler was hurt when he crashed the motorcycle he was riding in the 200 block of Crisswell Road. Police said he lost control of the cycle in a construction zone.

Heyne was taken by ambulance to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh with unspecified injuries. Police said the accident investigation continues.

Monday — Edward J. Schreiber IV, 28, of Slippery Rock was charged with drunken driving stemming from a traffic stop last month on Whitestown Road. Police said they pulled him over about 1:10 a.m. March 11 for swerving on the road.

His blood-alcohol level was subsequently found to be 0.14 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.

Schreiber is charged with driving under the influence and disregarding traffic lanes.

Monday — Hope E. Charlton, 31, of Butler was charged in connection with an altercation at the parking lot at the Sheetz store on Center Avenue.

Police said Charlton about 10:30 p.m. March 29 confronted a female driver and struck the driver’s side front door with her foot. The alleged victim’s vehicle sustained $1,286.22 in damage, a police report aid.

Charlton is charged with criminal mischief, harassment and disorderly conduct.

2:53 a.m. Sunday — Maximillian W. Halterman, 22, of Butler was arrested after a domestic dispute with his girlfriend at a convenience store on Center Avenue.

Police said Halterman got into an argument with the victim at the Sheetz and damaged her vehicle. He is accused of smashing a window and kicking the vehicle, according to a police report, which “resulted in the victim being struck.”

The defendant was arraigned on charges of simple assault, harassment, disorderly conduct and littering. He was placed in Butler County Prison on $15,000 bail following arraignment.

7:26 p.m. Saturday — Nora L. Miller, 32, of Butler and Amber L. Whalen, 27, of Beaver Falls, Beaver County, were caught allegedly stealing $138.13 in merchandise at the Butler Commons’ Walmart.

Police cited both women for retail theft.

Monday — An Allegheny County man was charged with drunken driving stemming from an incident last month in Muddy Creek Township, where his car got stuck in the center grass median on Route 422 just east of West Park Road.

Police said they found the defendant, Cody J. Dugas, 26, of West Mifflin, about 1:10 a.m. March 25. He told police that he lost control of his car after swerving to avoid a deer on the road, according to court documents.

Dugas admitted that had consumed alcohol earlier that evening. He was eventually taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test. Toxicology results showed his blood-alcohol alcohol was 0.138 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.

He is charged with driving under the influence, disregarding traffic lanes and careless driving.
