Kelly responds to Nunes memo

WASHINGTON — U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly, R-3rd, issued a statement Friday regarding the memo released by House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes.

The memo, which was released to the public by President Donald Trump, addresses whether the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act warrant requested in October 2016 by the FBI to surveil Trump foreign policy adviser Carter Page was properly obtained.

“The content of this memo is extremely disturbing,” Kelly said in the statement. “Americans are right to be alarmed.”

Kelly called the release of the memo “a victory for government transparency and the values that make our country great.

“I thank Chairman Nunes for his diligence in producing this memo and commend President Trump for properly declassifying it,” Kelly said.

He encouraged his constituents to read the memo to draw informed conclusions “about the entire troubling situation, and to fully understand its ramifications ...”
