Butler woman paroled in assault case
A Butler woman charged alongside two others in an assault and robbery incident, pleaded guilty and was sentenced to time served Wednesday in Butler County Court.
Michelle L. Kaiser, 46, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor disorderly conduct before President Judge Thomas Doerr and was sentenced to time served to 12 months in Butler County Prison. She was immediately paroled.
Kaiser was also ordered to pay court costs and restitution, and complete any recommended counseling from the Butler County Adult Probation Office.
Butler police initially charged Kaiser with felony conspiracy to commit aggravated assault and criminal use of a communications facility after an incident June 26 on East Wayne Street.
The disorderly conduct charge to which she pleaded was later added. The remaining charges were dismissed as part of the plea and sentencing.
Kaiser was charged alongside Tiffany A. Crawford, 32, and Anthony F. Perez, 40, both of Butler, after police said the three lured a woman to an East Wayne Street apartment and robbed her while Crawford held a machete to her throat, stealing more than $200 out of her bra, police said.
The victim was treated at Butler Memorial Hospital for cuts to her neck and hand, and other injuries.
The three then fled, but were later pulled over in a vehicle as part of an ongoing unrelated burglary investigation, after the vehicle matched the description of the suspect vehicle.
During the stop, police said a machete was found in the back seat and removed for officer safety, when the suspect description for the robbery call came in, matching the three suspects in the vehicle.
Perez was charged with conspiracy to commit aggravated assault, and Crawford was charged with felony robbery, aggravated assault, conspiracy to aggravated assault, misdemeanor simple assault and possession of a prohibited offensive weapon.
Perez pleaded guilty to misdemeanor simple assault and was sentenced to time served to 18 months in Butler County Prison, given credit for 158 days of time served and immediately paroled. He was also ordered to pay restitution, a $100 fine and court costs.
Crawford pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor count of simple assault and one count of prohibited offensive weapons in that case and was sentenced to a total of nine to 18 months in Butler County Prison followed by two years of probation.
